This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Distinguishing Features of Work The Wichita Police Department is seeking a talented and creative Multimedia/Social Media Content Creator to drive community engagement, enhance recruitment efforts, and shape our online presence. This role involves managing and producing compelling content across all platforms, with a strong emphasis on storytelling through photography, videography, written articles, and graphics. The ideal candidate will excel in crafting engaging narratives and have a strong grasp of agency branding, seamlessly integrating it across various media formats to support our outreach, safety initiatives, and recruitment campaigns. Workdays and hours -Monday -Friday - 8:00am - 5:00pm.For special events you may be required to work outside of the regular office hours that could include evenings and weekends. Bargaining Unit: Employee Council Posting may close at any time Examples of Work Performed Content Creation and Management: Film and edit short and long-form videos for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook to engage the community and support recruitment efforts. Capture photographs and video footage, including drone photography, to highlight departmental activities, community events, and public safety campaigns. Write compelling articles and stories that foster community relationships, highlight police work, and promote safety initiatives. Develop press releases, town hall presentations, and podcasts into engaging shortform social media posts. Social Media Engagement: Manage the Wichita Police Departments social media presence by scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and responding to community inquiries across all platforms. Design and create eye-catching thumbnails, graphics, and marketing materials tailored for specific platforms. Use SEO best practices to ensure content reaches the widest possible audience. Community and Recruitment Support: Work closely with department leadership to create content that supports ongoing recruitment efforts, ensuring the portrayal of police work as a meaningful and community-centered career. Promote public safety events, town hall meetings, and community initiatives through engaging and informative social media content. Live-streaming and Event Coverage: Cover live community events, town halls, and public safety campaigns, providing real-time updates and engagement with the public via live-streaming platforms. {=html} - The completion of work assignments may require the operation of a vehicle. - These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. - Other job-related duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Requirements of Work Ability to utilize DSLR cameras, stabilizing gimbals, and lavalier microphones for professional-grade photography and videography. Ability to Edit Videos using tools such as Fina Cut Pro X, Adobe Premier and CapCut, ensuring high-quality production with attention to color correction, sound balancing, and graphic elements. Ability to Perform photography and videography using drones (a drone pilot license is required or must be obtained). Ability to Use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for photo editing, graphic design, and color correction. Excellent understanding of social media platforms (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook), including SEO best practices, platform capabilities, and audience demographics. Ability to create and maintain a brand identity across various media channels. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to handle constr uctive criticism effectively. Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Availability for local travel and occasional night or weekend work to cover events. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of communications, public relations, advertising, reputation management, and social and traditional messaging platforms; Demonstrated ability to develop strategic, measurable, multi-media communication projects and campaigns that engage and persuade targeted audiences; Ability to plan, organize and implement complex plans to meet stakeholder information-sharing objectives; Ability to use a computer to access, interpret and record information; Knowledge of specific software useful in preparing communication collateral; Ab
