Join our team as a Media Specialist and support the US Marine Corps Operations Maintenance and Technical Services (OMTS) and Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA) by assisting in the development of multi-media products. This will ensure that all visual and media materials effectively communicate MCTSSA's mission and strategic goals while maintaining a high standard of professionalism. This impact enhances stakeholder engagement, reinforces MCTSSA's brand identity, and supports seamless communication both internally and externally. FedWriters is expanding rapidly and has been recognized as a 2024 Top Workplace by the Washington Post, offering excellent growth opportunities in a collaborative environment.Work Schedule and Location:On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm at Camp Pendelton, CA.Transport cameras, video equipment, and necessary gear safely to various locationsTake still photos and video in training areas, including the areas known as MCTSSASouth and the “tomato patch” during test executionTest, clean, maintain, and repair recording equipment, including testing microphones, toensure proper working conditionUse traditional or digital cameras, along with a variety of equipment, such as tripods,filters, and flash attachmentsAdjust positions and controls of cameras and related equipment to change focus,exposure, and lightingObserve test locations for potential problems and to determine filming and lightingrequirementsOrganize and parse raw footage into continuous video according to scripts or theinstructions of the customerTrim film segments to specified lengths and reassemble segments in sequencesSet up and operate computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switchingequipment, and digital video effects units to produce a final productSelect and combine the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical andsmooth-running storyEdit films and videotapes to insert music, dialogue, and sound effects, to arrange filmsinto sequences, and to correct errors using editing equipmentReview footage, sequence by sequence, to become familiar with it before assembling intoa final productConfer with government personnel concerning layout or editing approaches needed toincrease value of productionsCompose and frame each shot, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses, film, filters,and camera settings, to achieve the effects sought by customerEdit video for production and archiving, including non-linear editing using software, suchas CyberLink PowerDirectorMaintain inventory of audio-visual equipmentCompress, digitize, duplicate, and store audio and video dataManipulate and enhance scanned or digital images to create desired effects, usingcomputers and specialized software, such as Adobe PhotoshopTransfer photographs to computers for editing, archiving, and electronic transmissionReview sets of photographs to select the best workTest equipment prior to use to ensure that it is in good working orderDevelop, edit, review, and revise MCTSSA products, such as but not limited to,PowerPoint presentations, vignettes, brochures, and other marketing materials to ensureuniformity with MCTSSA branding, ensuring that products are professional andmaximize strategic communicationsCollaborate with stakeholders and update the MCTSSA internal and forward-facingwebpagesCoordinate and ensure that the read boards throughout the MCTSSA compound areupdatedActive Secret clearanceRequires a high school diploma (Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of SciencePreferred)1-5 years of experience in the field or in a related areaKnowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedureswithin a related fieldFedWriters is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/vets.At FedWriters, we place the highest importance on creating an exceptional employee experience.
