Employment Type: Part time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: Per Diem as needed 8 hour shifts - Rotating schedule Training will be during day shift POSITION TITLE: Aide/Tech II (Behavioral Health) MISSION STATEMENT: We, St. Joseph's Health and Trinity Health, serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities. POSITION SUMMARY: Delivers direct patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Performs tasks that do not require nursing judgements or administration of medications. Duties include, but not limited to: assisting patients with ADLs as needed, obtaining vital signs, completing 15-minute safety checks, ensuring unit is properly stocked and clean, and monitoring patients and visitors to ensure safety. Responsible for performing tasks as delegated to by the assigned RN, including but not limited to: phlebotomy draws, obtaining EKGs, completing blood glucose testing, assisting with patient care and transfer utilizing appropriate assistive devices, and administrative tasks as needed. Additional responsibilities include promoting the safety of patients, self and others, identifying escalating behaviors early on and working to diffuse the situation, and working to promote a restraint free environment. Assisting with emergency safety situations including restraint application, seclusion, Code G/Code M responses and 1:1 Safety watches. Is accountable for the patient care they deliver. Adheres to St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center standards of care and practice. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of 2 years healthcare related work experience, customer service and strong communication skills preferred. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Use moderately complex patient care devices and medical equipment. Actively use a specific application of a personal computer Current BLS/CPR certification required and First Aid training. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS: Office/Clinical Setting. Exposure Class I. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Heavy work (Over 50lbs): requires standing, lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying for long periods of time. Must have the visual and auditory acuity adequate to perform observations and patient care. Pay Range: $19.00 - $25.90 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
