Available Title(s): 158-NN_FACULTY - Teaching Assistant Professor - Career Business Title: Teaching Assistant Professor Employee Type: Faculty (+) (Fixed Term) Position Term: 9 Month Position Details: The Opportunity: The School of Food Science (SFS), College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS), and Washington State University (WSU) serve the region's growing food industry. Our high-caliber faculty, growing undergraduate and graduate degree programs, high research productivity, and excellent extension and outreach activities make SFS one of the top food science programs in the United States. We are looking for an instructor with expertise in food chemistry and product development to teach undergraduate and graduate courses within SFS and assume administrative responsibilities in our online certificate program and develop and deliver courses within Summary of Duties: The successful applicant is expected to: Teach food chemistry, product development and other courses within their area of expertise in-person and online as needed by the SFS. Recruit, mentor, and advise undergraduate and graduate students in the SFS. Participate in service activities (i.e., outreach, recruiting and other) of the SFS and CAHNRS. Participate in program assessment and provide evidence of the quality of learning and educational outcomes. Serve on departmental committees in the SFS mainly focused on instruction. Attend short courses and/or conferences concerned with teaching. Meet diverse student needs by creating an inclusive and inviting environment for all students. Assume administrative responsibilities for the online certificate program. Develop and teach courses in the online certificate program. Grow the online certificate program. Required Qualifications: M.S. or Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Chemistry or related field. Expertise in general food science area. Experience in teaching food science related courses. Demonstrated oral and written English communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work effectively with individuals and groups with diverse cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies in a global environment. Demonstrated leadership and teamwork to work collaboratively, independently, and harmoniously with other people. Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in food chemistry and product development. A record of peer-reviewed publications or other scholarship in food science research. Experience in teaching (course principal instructor) and course development. Postdoctoral or equivalent research and teaching, or previous food industry experience. Demonstrated experience and incorporation of currently food science pedagogy. Experience mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students. Experience in recruiting activities. Demonstrated ability teaching synch
