Great Place to Work® Most Loved Workplace® Forbes Best-in-State Employer AVP, North America Payroll Operations PRIMARY PURPOSE : Responsible for managing the payroll operations for North America. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the payroll function. Ensures compliance with applicable country, federal, state and local laws, regulations and standard operating procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Leads the payroll team by developing the execution of both short-term and long-term strategic priorities for the NA payroll department, including payroll processing, compliance, reporting and accounting. Establishes/ implements policies and procedures to ensure payroll is accurately prepared and distributed in a timely manner. Oversees the resolution of complex payroll issues, customer concerns, and inquiries and ensures resolution related to payroll processing and special pays. Ensures payroll end of year processes and reviews audits and inquiries as necessary. May also represent the functional area on complex and/or multi-functional projects that require payroll support i.e. M & A, etc. Collaborates with internal and external parties (CR, Finance, Corporate Tax, Legal) to ensure policies and practices are compliant with applicable legal requirements, government rules and guidance and internal standards. Ensures the payroll system is reflected. Stays abreast of regulatory, business and technology changes and industry trends to ensure timely and strategic implementation of best practices and to ensure compliance. Assists in the development of solutions to improve overall efficiency of payroll practices. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other duties as assigned. Travels as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance. Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations. Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Experience Ten (10) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Industry designation/licensing highly preferred. Skills & Knowledge Excellent understanding of payroll procedures and payroll tax regulations. Experience managing a team. Experience working with multi-state payrolls and managing in a high-volume setting. PC literate, including Microsoft Office product including strong Excel skills including working knowledge of v-lookups and pivot tables. Excellent organization skills, a strong attention to detail as well as superior customer service skills. Ability to follow-through, prioritize accordingly and communicate effectively as a liaison between staff and senior management. Analytical and interpretive skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proven management/leadership skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.
