The BANQUET CAPTAIN is responsible for the assistance of and/or overseeing of Special Events throughout Hard Rock Cafe and Hard Rock Live. This position assists the Banquet Manager in all aspects of the Department to include but not limited to: event coordinating, billing, ordering, inventory, scheduling, training, offsite catering and meetings. The BANQUET CAPTAIN must adhere to all Hard Rock Cafes Values and Mission Statement. Basic Functions of the BANQUET CAPTAIN Include:Welcoming and thanking guests as they arrive and departAnswering questions accurately and politelyManage the set up and breakdown for all special events based upon the instructions of the Service/Sales Manager and/or client; this includes set up of chairs, tables, bike racks, buffets, stations and trash cans, etc.Performing opening, closing & side duties such as cleaning glass, sweeping & vacuuming the floor, restroom maintenance, etc.Creating memorable experiences for all guestsEntertaining guests to create “Raving Fans”Attend Sound Check meetingsMaintain cleanliness throughout the venue during eventCommunicate all safety and guest issues to Managers Read and follow a BEO and post-banquet checksWork in cooperation with all internal departments to ensure the success of an eventMaintaining and understanding general venue and company knowledge, including upcoming events, company initiatives, hours of operation and philanthropic initiativesSpecific Responsiblities:Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the entire Hard Rock team, clients and guestsMaintain knowledge of all events taking place in and around the buildingAssures the complete satisfaction of each and every guestAbility to multitask in a fast paced environment while maintaining control and confidence with last minute changesManage employees by monitoring time and assessing the need to either increase or decrease the number of staff needed to successfully run an eventMaintain a thorough understanding of all policies and procedures of the Hard Rock organization as outlined in the Employee HandbookContinuously provide employees with verbal recognition, direction and supportCommunicate with Management to evaluate work procedures, identify methods for increasing efficiency and/or effectiveness, and respond proactively to any needs that have arisenInforms Management of employees who fail to meet standards to maintain a high quality workforceEnsure employees follow company policy, safety, sanitation and security procedures Trains and empowers employees to exercise good judgment to make decisions regarding service, food quality and customer satisfaction by adhering to company training standardsJob Requirements Include: Must be at least 19 years old Performing duties which require bending & reachingAble to lift up to 50-pounds Standing or walking on the floor for up to 8+ hoursMaintaining a well-groomed appearance (“having a plan”)Following all uniform guidelinesPracticing all safety & sanitation standardsRecycling products, where possibleRemaining calm in a hectic, fast-paced atmosphereDemonstrating a high level of organization, attention-to-detail and a sense-of-urgencyDisplaying a positive and outwardly friendly attitude toward guests and co-workers - never allowing personal life or outside influences to dictate attitudeMaintaining HRC’s 5 core Values and Mission StatementTwo years Supervisory experiencePrior experience as a banquet server and/or bartender leadVersed in banquet table serviceProven communication skills (written and verbal)Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and OutlookClosing:Hard Rock International is an equal opportunity employer.
