The Hyperbaric Safety Specialist is responsible for administering hyperbaric oxygen therapy, basic nursing care, and wound-related patient care. The position oversees the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers, related support systems, day-to-day maintenance on the chambers, and serves as the facilitator for the assessment of materials that are appropriate for use in and around the hyperbaric chambers.Essential Functions:Assists in patient preparation for treatment.Reinforces education as it relates to hyperbaric therapy.Keeps complete and accurate patient records as they pertain to treatment documentation.Performs hyperbaric chamber operations and system maintenance as required.Supports clinical hyperbaric facility accreditation.Maintains competencies, continuing education and certifications as appropriate.Utilizing data software for wound management to make appropriate entries for daily hyperbaric treatments and wound care clinic visits including photo uploading.Assume responsibility for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related systems and ancillary components.Provide leadership and safety training to other hyperbaric facility personnel.Ensures department compliance with NFPA 99 - Hyperbaric Chapter, current edition, and with unit safety policies and procedures.Reviews all department safety incidents, collects information regarding equipment/patient safety, reports relevant incidents to the staff, and periodically provides in-service training related to hyperbarics.Evaluates hyperbaric chamber equipment/supplies used in the chamber and ensures that they meet all safety requirements before they are permitted inside the chamber.Conducts quarterly hyperbaric chamber fire safety drills which are tailored to improve staff response to emergencies.May function as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in accordance with policy.Provides hands-on nursing care adhering to policies and procedures, maintains clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management and acts as a patient advocate in delivery and coordination of patient care.Collaborates with other healthcare providers, wound care center Physicians, Program Director and Medical Director, regarding clinic and patient needs.Obtain benefits and eligibility and/or prior authorization, if required, through patients' insurance for Hyperbaric Treatment for the facility and ordering/supervising provider.Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED, required.Vocational diploma in Certified or Registered Medical Assistant, Certified OR Licensed Nursing Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse training required.Over 1 year to 3 years experience in wound-related patient care, preferred.Licenses and Certifications:Attendance in 40 hr approved Hyperbaric Safety Course , Within 30 days of hire, requiredor Certified Hyperbaric Specialist , within 90 days of hire, requiredBasic Life Support (BLS), Upon hire, requiredCertified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) /OR Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) OR Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA)/ OR Licensed Practical Nurse - PA requiredBenefits:We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits to part-time and full-time employees including:Medical, dental, & vision insurance available 1st of the month after start dateWellness and gym discounts & free cardiac rehab gym403BOn-site discounted childcare centerPaid time offSick time for full time employeesTuition assistanceFree life insurance for full time employeesLong term disability for full time employeesShort term disabilityEmployee referral bonusIdentity theft insurancePet InsuranceFlexible spending accountsEmployee discount programEmployee Assistance ProgramFree parking
