Summary Under the direction of the Calf Ranch Manager this position is responsible for the general welfare and feeding of custom cattle within the feedlot and the maintenance of the feedlot and feed mill by managing all activities involved in meeting productivity and profit objectives established by Group Management. Key Responsibilities + Calf and Cattle Feeding - Work with Custom Feeding Operations Manager and Custom Feeding Managers to ensure contracts are followed and proper rations are being fed to the calves, as well as proper care and maintenance. Ensure grain quality, monitor hay, and grain inventories. These responsibilities are achieved though supervision of the Feeding Manager and crews in their respective duties of cattle and maintenance. + Work with the Calf Manager on budgeting and monitoring throughout the year: heavy equipment, major projects, rebuilds or new construction, water systems and exploration, major pipelines. This includes housing maintenance and recommendations for repairs and replacement. + Coordinate construction planning and project supervision as capacity and customers change; as well as the cleaning, repairing, and preventative maintenance of calf and mill operations. + Coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor equipment repairs and proper scheduling of repairs with personnel. + Management of employees - coordination of human resources, assigning duties and scheduling from one area to another; hiring, staffing, training, scheduling, of employees; resolving employee relations issues. + Supervise the processing of calves as they arrive; oversee and monitor calf health and oversee and/or treat sick calves according to experience or following instructions of Staff Veterinarian. + Maintain, update, and analyze all cattle transactions, including processing, vaccinations, movements, and deaths, through a management software system.
