We are seeking a dynamic and team-oriented individual to join our spirited team.As Career Advisor, you will provide support and assistance to program participants in all areas related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement.The Washington Heights Workforce1 Career Center offers a set of services customized to meet the needs of foreign and native-born New Yorkers ages 18 and up. We work with customers who are authorized to work in the United States. Our Center is unique in the way we help clients pursue training opportunities, connect to employment, and develop valuable skills to improve job candidacy while navigating public benefits.Successful Elements:Meet with FBNY jobseekers to provide individualized assessment of work readiness, help identify employment and educational goals, provide referrals to appropriate community service or social service agencies when neededDetermine WIOA eligibility and accurately complete required documentation for enrollment into the Worksource1 data management systemMaintain knowledge of employment opportunities and training programs available to make accurate assessments and next steps as it relates to the Foreign-Born populationUnderstand and be trained in career development services, and facilitate career development activities as needed: hosting and coordinating virtual events, conducting workshops, assessments, resumes, and orientation for Foreign-Born New Yorkers, including creating solutions to attendance problems Facilitate core and specialized workshops specifically tailored for Foreign-Born New Yorkers in both English and SpanishFacilitate workshops using standardized materials provided by the NYC Department of Small Business ServicesMaintain awareness of differences in individual learning styles and strengths by utilizing materials and activities to respond to differences in learning styles in addition to using language reflective of commitment to diversity and cultural competenceFacilitate information sessions and assessments to determine if Individual Training Grants and specialized workshops are the right fit for FBNY jobseekersTrack jobseekers’ progress toward goals and modify the IEP as necessary, including providing consistent and comprehensive case management and follow-up Provide information and next steps on suitable career paths based on clients’ skills, qualifications, interests, experience, education, certifications, etc.Maintain organized database of FBNY participants and keep detailed documentation of all contacts, including sharing updates with appropriate staff and/or funding agencyCoordinate participant retention services and accommodate participant work schedules to ensure participants follow through with planned activities as outlined in contract with funding agencyProvide front desk support, operational assistance, data entry assistance, customer service assistance, troubleshooting, workshop support and any other activities needed to support the operations of the CenterHelp to ensure that positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contractAssist in the preparation of project reports as needed (participation, placement, etc.)Required Experience:Bilingual English/Spanish, English/French, or English/Haitian Creole Required Experience with prioritizing tasks and recording case notes Demonstrated telephone, computer, and written communication skillsAbility to maintain flexibility as needs of contract requireCustomer service experience requiredA working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeRequired Education:College Degree or equivalent experience preferredBring your expertise to EDSI where you will be able to live our values every day: Show Up, Smile and Support!
