Teacher (C) - Virtual Education Duties: This position requires on-site presence at our facilities and is not a remote or telecommuting position. Teach classes to incarcerated individuals as assigned by direct supervisor using approved standards-based curriculum through both synchronous and asynchronous virtual programming. Develop standards-based curriculum and use that to create virtual lessons using the Orijin Learning Management System. Possess the skills to operate equipment used in the production of virtual education classes: including but not limited to, cameras, audio, lighting, computers, editing and production software, etc. May need to flex her/his work schedule in order to accommodate conference times with students beyond the typical school day. Demonstrate a comprehensive and current knowledge of DOC policies and procedures. Identify and recruit potential incarcerated individual class participants to maintain maximum program capacity by utilizing educational program waitlists. Complete daily attendance to maintain incarcerated individual accountability. Update IMS case plan as required by Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Complete Earned Good Time (EGT) performance ratings for incarcerated individuals in IMS no later than the last day of the awarding month. Complete required 40 hours of training within the fiscal year and maintain a record of attendance. Maintain current Massachusetts Teaching Licensure and provide appropriate documentation to direct supervisor. Update SSTA weekly to ensure that payroll is processed accurately. Administer standardized testing to incarcerated individuals including but not limited to HSE, HSE qualifying exams as needed. Determine incarcerated individual eligibility for placement in educational programming. Maintain incarcerated individual education files. Perform periodic purges, process incoming and outgoing files, and update incarcerated individual education documentation as needed. Collaborate with other professionals, both inside and outside of the Division of Inmate Training and Education, to contribute and enhance the strategic goals of the Division. Interact with staff/incarcerated individuals in a professional manner, utilizing appropriate boundaries. Report and document any and all security related concerns to your supervisor/designee prior to the end of your shift. Complete duties as assigned that support the Division?s mission. This position requires on-site presence at our facilities and is not a remote or telecommuting position. Preferred Qualifications: Applicants must have at least a Bachelor?s Degree Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices in adult education. At least two (2) years full time or equivalent part time experience teaching experience, virtual teaching experience preferred. Working knowledge of tests and measurements. Ability to work with incarcerated individuals teaching staff and administration collaboratively. Knowledge of principles and practices in correctional education. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong working knowledge of computers and all equipment used in the production of virtual classes.
