Job Description What is Oracle Cloud Roving Edge Infrastructure? Roving Edge Infrastructure Service is an exciting new service offering in Oracle Cloud. Cloud services have transformed IT and forever altered the way that IT services are offered and consumed. While the majority of IT systems are now cloud integrated and cloud dependent, an estimated 75% of all data is still generated and operated on at the edge, rather than in the cloud. Roving Edge Service is designed to enable cloud customers to extend critical core infrastructure services like compute, block storage, object storage and virtual networking to the far edge where many of their workloads operate. With the ability to deploy workloads to edge devices which sync data bidirectionally to and from their cloud tenancy, cloud customers can effectively extend the boundary of their cloud tenancy to reach use cases that exist far outside the data center. Roving Edge service is at the intersection of cloud and edge computing and promises to further transform the IT landscape. As a member of the engineering team for Roving Edge Service you will have an opportunity to help build and operate this unique service. Career Level - IC4 Responsibilities Who are we looking for? As a Software Development Engineer in the DevOps world, your duties are focused on establishing and maintaining cloud service operations, developing, deploying and monitoring micro-services, monitoring service operation, maintaining system security through up keeping source code on of security patches and driving improvements in service reliability. Software Development Engineer performs a wide range of complex problem solving with collaboration with subject matter experts within the dev team when necessary in an effort to maintain operation of cloud services across all regions worldwide. As a Principal Engineer (IC4) you will be in a substantial technical leadership role. We are looking for a DevOps leader focus on higher balance of overall service status working with different stake holders. Leading junior engineer to maintain existing services while participate in new service development. Evolved soft skills and excellent communication and the ability to collaborate with others is a hallmark. You will mentor other engineers and must be capable of driving technical tasks independently and with confidence. You will have continuous opportunities to lead and be a catalyst for technical innovation. Requires a BS degree in Computer Science or a related IT field or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. At least 5 years of software engineering or related experience. This role will support Oracle's government customers. US Citizen required due to the nature of the work. Qualifications Required BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related IT field or equivalent experience relevant to functional areas 5+ years of software engineering or related experience Good understanding of SW development processes and best practices Ability to perform log analysis for problem identification and root cause analysis in cloud-native distributed systems Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures Deep knowledge of REST and modern paradigm for inter-process communication Container deployment and management such as Docker/Podman And Kubernetes Familiarity with software package installation, git repositories, patching automation Familiar with Linux Operations Highly Desirable Prior experience as DevOps lead position Linux Administration OCI experience Holding or Held Top Secret Clearance or With Full Scope Polygraph (FSP). Knowledge and experience with server and network hardware and infrastructure components Familiarity with remote login techniques, jump hosts, etc Configuration management and deployment tools such as terraform, ansible, chef, etc Scripting languages: shell, expect, python, golang, perl, etc Disclaimer: Certain US customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
