The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a creative, dynamic and committed Rehabilitation Counselor C who provides leadership and support. The Rehabilitation Counselor C position assists the OT2 and Rehab D in completing the program needs assessment, program design, and implementation. The Rehabilitation Counselor C Supervises staff and interns as assigned. Develops individualized rehabilitation treatment groups and documents patient progress towards their treatment plan goals. The Rehabilitation Counselor C Collaborates with their supervisor, all team members, and patients to assess and revise services as needed to meet changing patient needs. _ Please Note_: This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. The selected candidate will work Friday to Tuesday, 11:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. The days off are Wednesday and Thursday. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ Provides program leadership for rehabilitation services and assists in overseeing the program environment ensuring the program space meet the Joint Commission, CMS standards, WRCH and Rehab protocols and procedures. Will provide supervision of Rehabilitation Counselor A/B(s), ensuring that rehabilitation treatment provided meets the patients' clinical needs and follows the group protocol guidelines. Will provide creative, engaging, evidence-based groups and individual treatments in a variety of settings in collaboration with the rehabilitation supervisors and Director of Rehabilitation Creates, implements, and leadspsychoeducational, task-based groups, vocational services, and leisure recreational treatment groups to assist patients in learning skills to manage their illnesses. Monitors effectiveness of groups and services provided, to ensure the treatment provided is effective in assisting the patients in meeting their recovery goals. Assists with training and support for staff in the areas of evidence-based rehabilitation treatment. Provide rehabilitation services to assist the patient's performance in ADL's and in all functional skills. Assists in rehabilitation services performance improvement projects by identifying program needs/ services and implementing PI project(s) collecting data, reporting on data findings, and developing action plans. Attends and participates in all rehab staff meetings and hospital wide committees assigned to maintain awareness of hospital wide goals and objectives and communicate these to reporting staff to ensure department wide implementation. Provides feedback to the Unit OTI, OTII, and other Treatment Team members regarding the patients' progress toward goals, clinical observations, and risk issues. Offers direct supervision to staff assigned to the program by meeting with them regularly and pursuing any disciplinary actions when necessary, and by recognizing outstanding performance through employee recognition mechanisms and through EPRS, to ensure that employees have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities. Accurately documents patient treatment findings toward their treatment plan goals in the electronic medical record according to JCAHO, CMS, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital, MHIS Standards, and that meets the workflow standards. Participates in continuing education/training opportunities specifically intended to address prioritized competencies to maintain competency in rehabilitation services. Required Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practice of psychiatric rehabilitation, principles and technique of counseling for psychiatric rehabilitation, the types and symptoms of mental and/or emotional disorders. The methods and techniques of psychiatric rehabilitation, motivational and reinforcement techniques, the factors, trends and problems in providing rehabilitation services to clients. The methods of general reporting writing, to be open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace. To analyze and determine the applicability of data, to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations, to establish rapport with person from different ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds, to be sensitive to others' needs and feelings, and be understanding and helpful on the job To interact with people who are under physical or emotional stress, to maintain composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior even in very difficult situations. To gather information by examining records documents and to prepare general reports, to handle complaints, arbitrates disputes, resolve grievances, or otherwise negotiate with other and to evaluate the likely success of an idea in relation to the demands of the situation. Valid MA Driver's License Ability to drive a 15-passenger van _ Preferred Qualifications:_ Knowledge of and ability to comply with all hospital procedures. Comprehension of the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines governing assigned unit activities. Understanding of the principles underlying affirmative action goals, objectives and programs. Proficiency in the use of computer applications such as word processing software, spreadsheets, databases, presentation graphics software, and documentation in the electronic medical record. Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency is preferred. ASL preferred. Candidates must be able to read, write and otherwise communicate in English.
