All who are selected to participate in CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program receive training in the field of foreign policy and international affairs as well as skills training in writing, research, program planning, and much more.The Intern, Executive Office will work under the direction of the Research Associate to the President and Chief of Staff. Qualified candidates will have related experience that requires judgment, discretion, strong writing and editing skills, the ability to prioritize, and experience dealing with high-profile individuals.CFR internships are paid, require a 14 to 18-hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.Please note that this internship will only be offered in-person. All internships are paid positions (no exceptions can be made on this). As such, all interns must have the legal right to work in the United States to be eligible for consideration.Assisting with the preparation, briefing, and staffing of CFR’s PresidentSupporting the Executive Office staff on administrative matters, including scheduling, answering telephones, responding to requests for information, and interacting with other Council departmentsUsing the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to provide the President with requested informationAssisting the executive office with light background research, when necessaryActing as an onsite presence and providing administrative and logistical backing for larger-scale eventsAssisting members of the Executive Office staff as neededUndergraduate or graduate student with high academic credentials; interest in and knowledge of current foreign policy issuesStudents should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework by the time they begin an internshipExcellent writing, editing, and proofreading skillsOutstanding written and verbal communication skillsOutstanding professional judgment, discretion, and demeanorProficiency in word processing, Excel, and database managementStrong attention to detail and accuracyProven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a teamProven ability to be flexible, multitask, prioritize multiple tasks on deadlinePrevious experience with briefings, event management, and staffing preferredPay Rate$17.50 per hourFounded in 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a leading nonprofit membership organization, research center, and publisher, with headquarters in New York, an office in Washington, DC, and programs nationwide.
