Situated in the beautiful mountains of the Alleghany Highlands the Alleghany Highlands Community Services Board serves as an anchor to the community. Our receptionist is a criteria role and is often times is the face of our agency. This position offers a potential $2,000 sign-on bonus, paid out according to agency guidelines. The Receptionist position is responsible for performing administrative duties as receptionist for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder staff. Performs duties to including verifying demographic and insurance information for clients, collecting payments, scheduling appointments for clients and updating financial intakes. Answers telephone calls, assists and routes callers to the appropriate staff. Composes supply orders to submit to MH/SUD Director. Serves on Agency Safety Committee.Prints daily schedules for staff; calls to confirm appointments. Checks eligibility for Medicaid.Performs other administrative functions as the need arrives. Minimum Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated excellence in professional communication, and decorum in providing the first contact and professional face for a healthcare office setting. Oral and written communications skills appropriate to a wide range of contacts with a cheerful speaking voice and correct English grammar usage Mastery in using all types of office equipment i.e. printer, fax machine, speed scanner, and computer. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word and database systems Working knowledge of Excel Excellent attention to detail, and ability to proofread carefully and to organize work and prioritize tasks with minimal direction. Must be able to establish and maintain courteous, respectful, and effective working relationships with people and staff at all levels, internally and externally. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle confidential matters with discretion and tact. Comprehensive knowledge of the Agency's organization, policies, and procedures. Ability to multi-task and maintain calm composure in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. Insurance Regulations, benefits and eligibility Multiline phone system Medicaid web portal and credit card machine Completing financials to determine financial responsibility and assessing insurance benefits for billing Current office and medical terminology (related to insurance), practices and procedures Organizing/coordinating/scheduling services with clients, other agencies, office staff, vendors, etc. Education:High school diploma required. Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred. Experience: Considerable experience as Administrative Assistant in a medical office setting preferred, or a combination of education and experience indicative of ability to proficiently perform job functions. Physical Demands and Sensory While performing the duties of this job, the employee will often sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach above their head. Use of hands for placing and pulling objects. The employee frequently lifts and or carries up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Specific hearing required by this job includes normal tones. May travel less than 5%. Almost all travel is local.
