This job was posted by : For more information, please see: ALFALFA ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION APPRENTICE LINEMAN 15-Q SALARY RANGE: $19.46 - $26.33 I. OBJECTIVES To provide maximum services to the members by rendering prompt, efficient service, and communications which will promote good will between the Cooperative and its members. To perform, under close supervision, efficient construction, maintenance, and operations on energized and de- energized distribution lines. To become familiar with and trained in construction assemblies and basic line work and to become familiar with and adhere to all established safety rules and regulations, methods, procedures, and practices; and to qualify for advancement. II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS A. Reports to: Working Foreman B. Directs: None III. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Must be able to read, write and perform basic mathematical computations. Work experience preferred in which there has been a demonstrated ability to carry out the position responsibilities. Some utility experience required although some experience comes from on the job training. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. IV. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Must possess the skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public, members, fellow employees, etc. Must show respect for the public's property and privacy. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in verbal and written form necessary. Must have interest in proper care and cleaning of vehicles and other related equipment and be able to keep up maintenance. Must have demonstrated ability to learn and apply safety rules and regulations. V. RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES: A. Performs all types of construction, maintenance, operations, and retirement on dead distribution conductors, structures, and equipment with proper instruction, training, and close supervision. B. Performs on energized poles under very close supervision, by working foremen, journeyman linemen or other qualified personnel. C. Observes all established safety rules and regulations. D. Assists in loading and unloading materials. E. Frames, digs holes and sets poles. F. Clears right-of-way, sprays brush, trims and cuts trees. G. Lays up, sags, and ties in wire. H. Makes up, and hangs guys and overhead guys. I. Gives artificial respiration effectively and becomes familiar with basic safety rules. Apprentice Lineman 3/5/2024 2 J. Exercises courtesy and tact in contacts with members. K. Receives and transmits two-way radio communications. L. Exercises extreme care in protecting private property while on premises. M. Cooperates in 'Mutual Assistance' when directed. N. Attends schools, personnel, and safety meetings as directed. O. Exercises proper use and care of materials, equipment, and supplies. P. Works extra hours as directed or required. Q. Obtains Oklahoma CDL Class A license and operates automotive equipment. R. Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time. VI. ATTITUDE AND CHARACTER A. Must have the commitment to achieve departmental, Cooperative, and individual goals and objectives. B. Must be honest, have concern for the welfare of others, and display tolerance and tact in dealing with people. VII. RELATED FACTORS A. Working conditions: Works outdoors and is exposed to various weather conditions such as high winds, dust, rain, ice, snow and highly varied temperatures. B. Hazards: The hazards are, but are not limited to, electrical shock, falls, burns, old poles, falling objects, ice covered poles, and prolonged driving in traffic. VIII.
