Role Overview: The purpose of the Shift Supervisor is to ensure the security officers under their command effectively uphold a safe and secure environment, maintain communication with staff to minimize crisis situations, and operate in full compliance with the established post orders. The Shift Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the client site, maintaining a calm and controlled environment, and supporting the officers under their command while effectively managing any staffing issues that arise. Duties: Assign officers to specific duties within the client site and rotate them as necessary to ensure coverage and avoid fatigue. Monitor the performance of security officers to ensure they follow the post orders and uphold the expectations outlined. Serve as the primary point of contact for any escalated issues from the security officers or the client staff. Ensure all officers are briefed at the beginning of each shift on any updates or changes to the post orders. Respond immediately to any reports of harmful or dangerous behavior from security officers. Directly manage incidents involving potential client elopement, ensuring officers follow the correct protocol, including engaging with and notifying the appropriate authorities. Coordinate with local Law Enforcement and Shift Security Supervisors in case of an elopement or other emergencies. Maintain clear and open communication with the Client Supervisor, ensuring security measures align with the care plan. Regularly update the Shift Security Supervisor and other relevant personnel on any incidents, changes in status, or other critical information. Conduct regular training sessions for officers on recognizing and managing potential elopements, crisis intervention, and any updates to post orders. Provide on-the-job training for new officers, focusing on the specific needs and protocols of the security. Review and provide feedback to officers on their performance, emphasizing adherence to safety protocols and effective communication. Ensure that all incidents, including potential and actual elopements, are thoroughly documented in the incident reports. Review and approve incident reports filed by officers, ensuring they are complete and accurate. Maintain a log of all visitors entering and exiting, ensuring that all procedures for visitor management are followed correctly. Ensure that security officers are operating in full compliance with the care plan and post orders. Regularly inspect the client site to ensure that all doors and secure areas are properly managed, and that visitors and patients do not have unauthorized access. Confirm that all procedures regarding the visitor screening, and patient supervision are strictly followed by all officers. Coordinate with client staff and other security personnel during emergencies. Ensure that all officers remain at their posts until properly relieved by other authorized personnel. Take charge during critical situations, ensuring the safety and security of the client site and personnel. Oversee shift transitions, ensuring that all incoming officers are briefed on the current status of the client site and any ongoing incidents. Ensure that officers take their breaks without compromising the security and safety of the client site. Manage any personnel issues within the team, addressing any concerns or disciplinary matters as needed. Monitor Attendance: Maintain a log of officer attendance and monitor patterns of absenteeism. Book-Off Reporting: Establish a clear protocol for officers to report book-offs, including a minimum notice period, if possible. Officers should report their inability to work directly to the Shift Supervisor, who will log the absence and initiate coverage procedures. Immediate Action: Upon receiving a book-off notification, the Shift Supervisor should immediately assess the impact on staffing levels and prioritize filling the vacancy to maintain coverage. Contact Relief Officers: Maintain an updated list of relief or on-call officers who can be contacted to fill in for the booked-off officer. Begin contacting these officers based on availability and proximity to the site. Reassigning Duties: If a relief officer is not immediately available, temporarily reassign duties among the existing team to ensure critical areas are covered until a replacement arrives. Notify Management: Inform the Shift Security Supervisor and, if necessary, higher management of the book-off and the steps being taken to fill the vacancy. Document the Process: Record all actions taken to fill the vacancy, including calls made to relief officers and any changes to the shift structure. Follow-Up: After the shift, review the impact of the book-off on operations and document any issues encountered. If the book-off was unplanned or a result of recurring absenteeism, follow up with the absent officer according to company policy. Leadership: Ability to lead and manage a team of security officers effectively. Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with medical staff, patients, and officers. Crisis Management: Skilled in managing and de-escalating crisis situations. Attention to Detail: Vigilant in monitoring the environment and ensuring strict adherence to protocols. Decision-Making: Able to make quick and effective decisions in emergency situations. Resourcefulness: Ability to efficiently manage staffing challenges, such as handling book-offs and ensuring coverage. Requirements: 2+ years of security experience, with at least one year in a supervisory role healthcare, law enforcement, or military experience preferred. High school diploma, GED, equivalent or above. Must be 18 years or older. Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English. COVID 19 Vaccination and client mandated medical onboarding.
