The packaging lines are a critical part of the production process. The Machine Operators must thoroughly understand the operating features of the scales, manual baggers, and heat sealers. All equipment will be maintained at optimum efficiency through a scheduled cleaning routine. The Machine Operator must be trained as both a hopper and sealer. The machine operators are responsible for performing visual inspections on the bags, going through the sealer, and performing weight checks to ensure the correct amount of product is in the bag. Duties and Responsibilities: Performs pre-inspection of their work area before they start production. Operate packaging equipment efficiently and safely. Report all equipment and work area deficiencies to the shift Supervisor or lead. Communicate with the shift Supervisor to ensure the proper product is being packaged in the correct bag. Does a weight check on the finished product every 30 minutes and records this weight on the daily bagging report. Communicate with the supervisor about any situation that may affect the safety of employees or other issues that can affect the production or quality of the product. Performs housekeeping in their area of responsibility and the other regions in the plant when no bagging work is necessary. Perform lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures as required. Carry out additional duties related to the job as assigned.
