A service technician performs in-house product testing, troubleshooting, starts-up, operation, customer training and repairs HEAT products at our manufacturing facility and at our customers' facilities. They usually have to work independently under little supervision. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The various duties and responsibilities required to be carried out by a field service technician are as follows: Test HEAT products prior to shipment to ensure function and quality. Provide start up services for HEAT products at the customer's facility. Troubleshoot and repair HEAT products here and at the customer's facility. Evaluate the installation of HEAT products into a customer's process for function and safety. Provide telephone support to the customer in order to perform troubleshooting. Assist with in-house product testing, troubleshooting, operation, and customer training. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Knowledge of industrial processes and temperature control solutions. Competence in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair. Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings. Ability to develop and deliver persuasive presentations. Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Technical Degree and three to five years of work experience in an industrial product design and manufacturing company. The skills and specifications required for a field service technician are as follows: Must have the ability to work independently or with less supervision. Ability to travel long distances and stay overnight away from home. Must continue to possess a valid driver's license. Needs to possess excellent troubleshooting skills. Must have good customer service skills. Ability to maintain good relations with customers. Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to work under pressure. Ability to manage service calls. Should not get frustrated at work. Must have welding skills and experience. Must have industrial control wiring skills and experience. Mechanical skills Must have basic computer skills. Determine customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products and solutions. Coordinate the collection and dissemination of technical information within the company and between the company and the customer. Coordinate the collection and dissemination of commercial information within the company and between the company and the customer. Monitor project cost activity to achieve an 'in budget' result. Assist in customer contact and communication pertaining to specific projects via telephone, fax, e-mail, US mail, and in person at any stage in the project cycle. Review and monitor project progress to assure quality of product, adherence to requirements of the contract and the schedule. Assist with in-house product testing, trouble-shooting, operation, and customer training. Design and document the mechanical, electrical, and process instrument control of complex heat transfer systems and other HEAT product. Generate detailed work instructions for all HEAT products. Furnish prototype operation/maintenance manuals for all assigned projects. Assist in the conducting of educational seminars and presentations for outside sales representatives, revolving around internal corporate operations and engineering technology. Help develop documentation and design of company standards. Perform other duties as assigned. OTHER REQUIREMENTS The person in this position represents Heat Exchange and Transfer, Inc. and ts principal stockholders in their every interaction with existing and potential employees, customers, vendors, business partners, and the community at large. They must be a strong advocate for the company and its employees and must maintain a positive and professional manner in their behavior, verbal and written communications, and appearance at all times. The Service Technician must be willing to allow additional alcohol and drug testing, and/or detailed background checks as requested or required by some customers, before traveling to or working at some customer locations. The Service Technician is responsible to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed. They must also be able to speak to others to convey information effectively so that the job can be completed in the manner it should be. The Service Technician needs the ability to keep hand and arm steady while moving the arm or while holding the hand in one position. The Service Technician needs the ability to see details at close range while they aredoing their job function. The Service Technician needs the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. They also need the ability to quickly move the hand, the hand together with the arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. The Service Technician also needs the ability to make precise coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects. The Service Technician needs to be able to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. The Service Technician needs to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, recognizing there is a problem, and be involved in solving the problem. The Service Technician must be able to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted. The Service Technician must use controlled mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes. The Service Technician must observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources before starting a project. The Service Technician performs physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are normal for an industrial fabrication shop or manufacturing factory environment. The Service Technician may get dirty during the course of a normal workday. Some tasks may involve working off of the ground or in enclosed spaces. Overtime, weekend, and night shift hours may be required. Some tasks require working in an office environment.
