Athletic Director

JOB DESCRIPTION -- ATHLETIC DIRECTOR TITLE: Athletic Director JOB FUNCTION: Under the general direction of the President of DuBois Central Catholic, the Athletic Director oversees all activities related to the interscholastic athletic and after-school fitness programs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, organize and oversee a comprehensive sports program at the school. Work with coaches, parents and student athletes to ensure program objectives mirror the school's mission, values and culture, and strive to build a culture of enthusiastic support among all members. Develop guidelines and procedures for the operation of the athletic programs in keeping with league and state requirements and ensure that these guidelines are followed. Coordinate and oversee the recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation and development of sport and physical education coaches and trainers. Develop and maintain good public relations with parents, alumni, officials, fans and news media. Work with the Business Manager to plan an effective annual sports budget. Encourage and maintain proper student and community sportsmanship at all athletic contests. Oversee all management issues related to successful operations to include but not be limited to recordkeeping; athletic schedules; emergency services at games, where necessary; security, control, and supervision when other schools uses DCC athletic facilities; cleanliness and good order of all athletic facilities and equipment. Represent well DCC in league and PIAA matters. Develop and implement safety, emergency, and injury procedures. Attend to any additional responsibilities that may be added at the School's discretion. JOB DESCRIPTION ATHLETIC DIRECTOR KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills. ABILITY TO: Innovate and align current programming with best practices in athletics and physical fitness. Demonstrate respect for the long tradition of successful competitive programs at our school. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This can be a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts. May work at a desk and computer for limited periods of time. May work long hours for extended periods of time. Works in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, and requires some heavy lifting. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree or a master's Master's Degree A valid First Aid Certificate from the American Red Cross, including CPR training.
