EXPERIENCE: At least one year of Full- Time experience as an RN working with patients in addiction, and/or behavioral health preferredSPECIAL CLIENT RELATED QUALIFICATIONS: Capable of working in a self-directed role, able to multi- task and problem solve. The RN is able to coordinate care and supervise the work of the LPN; when needed. The RN is able to manage and multi task when working with clients; their behaviors; educate and motivate them in treatment protocols and scheduling. Ability to work independently and under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. The RN must have the capability to work effectively with all clients from adult age to geriatric age, co- workers, and in a group setting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:The Registered Nurse( RN) is responsible for providing nursing care to patients; with professionalism. Supervising care treatment and services of patient care provided to the clients by LPNs, and MA's on their shift. Developing, implementing, and evaluating an individual plan of care for each client. Assessment and re-assessment of patients. The RN is responsible for accurately receiving physician's orders (verbal or via telephone) and documenting appropriately. The RN transcribes and reviews physician's orders. Ensures physician's orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.Accurately administers medications per orders and documents accurate count of controlled substances. Adjusts medications under provider's supervision as needed; monitors lab results to validate medication compliance.Notifies physician of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies or change in medical status regarding response to medications, etc.Supervises self-administration of medications using safety initiative of using two means of client identification: documents and reports effects of scheduled and PRN medications. Maintains accountability of administration, control and security of medications, including narcotics.The RN supervises the dispensing of medication to clients and the care provided to the clients by LPNs, and MA's on their shift.Discusses regularly with treatment team (e.g., medical assistant, nurses, counselors, psychiatrists, physician, director of nursing) regarding client care. Attends and participates in all team activities such staff meetings, etc. Reports client concerns and changes in condition to the medical team and supervisor (DON) in a timely manner.Provides education/explanation to clients, families, and co-workers regarding medication usage/maintenance, common side effects, client's rights, as well as other topics necessary for optimal client care as needed.The RN must interpret all rules and regulations; follow all policies and procedures and make decisions based upon them.The RN must meet all standards of client confidentiality and safety at all times. The RN displays empathy and respect in all means of communication with the clients and all team members.
