Wig Technician/Stylist Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking a Wig Technician to join our team in Pittsfield, MA for our production of Primary Trust. This position assists the Wardrobe Supervisor in the care, management and organization of wigs through the dress rehearsal, performance and strike of each production throughout the run of the sow. This position requires a team player with great interpersonal skills, a working knowledge of wig maintenance and styling, and the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations. Responsibilities: - Care for, manage and organize wigs during the dress rehearsal and performance period - Assist in maintaining stage-ready wigs for actors and collaborate with wig designer to maintain artistic vision - Partner with Wardrobe supervisor to address logistical challenges, rigging concerns and actor comfort issues, readily offering creative solutions to maintain a seamless production - Check-in and review wigs prior to each performance. - Assist actors getting into wigs and help to facilitate quick changes - Help Maintain dressing rooms throughout performance period - Maintain wigs during the performance period, such as restyling, blocking, and repairs as needed. - Help keep wardrobe room and quick change areas clean and free of debris Skills: - Strong interpersonal, time management and organizational skills - Prior backstage costume and wig related experience preferred - Basic sewing skills as it relates to repairs and quick change rigging - Knowledge and experience in wig styling, maintenance and cleaning - Experience with wig application and pinning - Able to stand for long periods of time - Able to remain calm during high pressure quick change situations This position reports to the Wardrobe Supervisor, Costume Shop Manageme,nt, and Production Management. It is a full-time, seasonal position. Contract: ASAP-10/18/2024 Pay is $18.00 per hour, with housing included.
