Summary: Provides clerical support to the License and Inspections Office and to the Community and Economic Development Director. Maintains a close working and highly responsive relationship with the supervisor, while performing department specific clerical duties. This position requires a thorough knowledge of office routines and an understanding of the organization, responsibilities, and procedures related to the work in the office. Duties include but not limited to: Plans and arranges work, under minimum direction, to meet requirements of all assignments. Types, edits, and proofreads correspondence, ensuring proper appearance, spelling, punctuation, and grammatical accuracy. Composes routine correspondence and reports from general instructions. Answers and forwards telephone calls, reviews and distributes mail, schedules and arranges meetings, maintains office files, records and reference materials and operates office equipment, as needed. Processes contractor's license, enter name, insurance, type of contractor, while maintaining computer generated reports; Processes payments for licenses and inspections; Print licenses and mail to contractors; Maintains files relative to certificate of occupancy, take telephone requests, set up inspection dates and process, as needed; Mail out certificates of occupancies after inspections are completed, send to Director's office for signature and mail to recipients; Maintain demolition records, send out notices to owners, and send lien notices to Solicitor's Office when required. Performs other related duties in the department as assigned by the Director. Minimum Requirements: Must display ability to read and speak Spanish as well as English. Chester resident preferred. High School Diploma or G.E.D. with two (2) years' experience in related field. Professional telephone manner with excellent oral and written communication skills. Maybe required to pass a typing test (30 wpm). Strong knowledge of Windows, Word and Excel. Preferred understand of Licensing and Inspection Code requirements and regulations. Preferred understanding of Permit and Building Code requirements and regulations. Must be reliable Must be well organized. Physical Demands Work requires ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and occasionally lift objects (0-15 lbs). Work Environment Work performed in an office environment.
