The Cleaner position is responsible for routine cleaning and disinfection of assigned areas to maintain a healthy and safe college environment. Work is carried out in accordance with well-established, modern, safe and sanitary building cleaning methods and procedures and involves responsibility for the thorough execution and efficient performance of simple cleaning tasks following a well-established routine. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher-ranking maintenance or cleaning staff member, who lays out and assigns in great detail the tasks to be performed and who also performs periodic follow-up inspections to insure that assignments are being performed satisfactorily. Does related work as required. May be assigned to perform work at different CCC locations; on the main campus and at off-campus locations. The work involves responsibility for the performance of routine cleaning tasks and sometimes arduous tasks requiring physical endurance. Typical indoor and outdoor activity and work, according to the job description, will be required. Dusts furniture and woodwork, vacuums carpets, and cleans and waxes floors. Collects and disposes of trash and garbage. Cleans and sanitizes rest rooms and replenishes supplies of soap, towels, etc. Washes windows, walls, drapes and curtains, and may clean venetian blinds Performs unskilled work in connection with the painting Performs painting chores not requiring the services of a journeyman painter May assist a Building Maintenance Mechanic or Maintenance Person in a variety of repair tasks and may independently perform routine minor repairs As required, unloads delivery trucks and delivers packages and supplies to assigned locations; Moves/rearranges office equipment and furniture; May assist in the delivery of mail to offices; Cleans walks of snow, rakes leaves, and may mow lawns; Loads and unloads trucks with materials, supplies, tools, equipment, etc.; and, Other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned. Special Requirement: Possession of an appropriate level, valid New York State driver license may be required at time of appointment and must be maintained on a continuous basis throughout the term of appointment. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including, but not limited to relevant experience, education, market demands, and training.
