A Night Shift Sanitarian is needed. In this position, training will occur on DAY shift and could last up to a few months. Once trained, the permanent position is a 10 pm to 6 am shift (including every other Saturday night.) Sanitarians clean equipment and common areas (such as the breakroom and restroom) in a bagel manufacturing plant. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for up to 12 hours, bend, stoop, and twist is necessary. These are physical positions. Additionally, the ability to tolerate hot temperatures is necessary. Availability is needed seven days a week; you could be scheduled to work on any day. Sanitarians receive $16.00 per hour and Sanitarians receive an additional 35 cents per hour after 6 pm. This is a full time position for which benefits are available after an applicable waiting period.Job DescriptionJob Title: SanitarianDepartment:SanitationReports to: Sanitation ManagerDate Revised: 3/29/2022SummaryThe Sanitarian or position is responsible for the sanitation and maintenance all electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems on all equipment associated with the production of bagels. Inclusive of all building structures and infrastructure. This is to be performed employing the safest, most efficient and professional methods possible. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn accordance with all company policies, the essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:Understanding of planned shift responsibilities and goals. Communication as to the status of shift results to the following shift and to all others who may require the needed information. Completion of daily walk-through of assigned areas of responsibility. Notation of all equipment and facility discrepancies. Communication that assures any necessary corrective actions are pletion of all necessary reports, logs, and documentation as to the result of shift and departmental activities.Ability to assist in the finding and troubleshooting of problems, as they relate to proper sanitation, in all plant areas where problems may exist.Follow Bakewise, governmental safety, environmental guidelines, and Good Manufacturing Practices.Follow up to confirm all assignments are complete, rescheduling all incomplete assignments and confirmation that all tasks are performed in a craftsman like manner.Effective communication with Maintenance, Production, and Warehouse Departments as needed. Good knowledge of all machine functions, i.e.- control, location of safeties, cause and effect of various adjustments, cleaning operations, manual, semiautomatic, and automatic machine operations.Higher level of knowledge relative to established cleaning chemicals, dilution rates, and associated procedures in applying these chemicals.Good level of knowledge of all process support equipment, its function and operation relative to the dough process and how that relates to proper sanitation.Good level of knowledge of the dough process, its physical properties and relation to the baking process and how that relates to proper sanitation.Ability to provide innovative approaches and designs to difficult problems that relate to proper sanitation.Ability to clean, sanitize and maintain to exacting tolerances following specific instructions using predetermined chemicals and procedures. At times assist with training of production staff with regards to Sanitation as well as new Sanitation employees.All other duties as assigned by Management.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or G.E.D. Training in related fields a plus but not required.Experience in related fields of sanitation preferred but not required..Field related two-year degree or verifiable vocational training a plus but not required.Mental and Physical Requirements1. Ability to perform assigned duties in a highly disruptive environment.2.Ability to efficiently work with minimum or no direct supervision.3.Ability to safely handle or move heavy and awkward objects. 4.Ability to regularly lift up to 60 pounds.5.Ability to bend, twist, stoop, crawl and climb as needed in order to maintain and repair equipment.6.Must be able to work overtime when required to do so.7. Ability to perform assigned tasks under time pressure.8.Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently at the same time.9.Strong written and oral communication skills.10.Must be able to produce work within exacting standards and tolerances.Work EnvironmentHearing protection may be required.Eye protection required.Additional PPE may be required dependent on task.A sometime hot/humid environment, greater than 90.Exposure to elements including freezing and below freezing temperatures in performing work outside.
