With a strong emphasis on our team and dedication to excellent customer service, Corning Credit Union continues to be an employer of choice across the markets we serve.Role Summary: The Payroll Specialist is primarily responsible for administering payroll for the Credit Union, including timekeeping, payroll processing, and managing financial settlements. The ability to research and comply with federal and state wage and hour laws, industry best practices, and applicable tax code is also a core function of the role. Essential Job Duties Maintains substantial knowledge and ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations and Internal Revenue Code as it relates to the payment and taxation of wages and benefits.Processes bi-weekly payroll, audits complex entries, and reconciles payroll reports and ledgers.Collaborates with the accounting department to manage GL entries and ensure accurate financial settlement.Audits bi-weekly, quarterly, and annual reports including Wage and Tax registers, 941s, W2s, and W3s to ensure timely filings. Takes a lead role in complying with applicable external audits.Gathers and analyzes data for various HR metrics, proactively reporting on notable trends. Processes HRIS entries and maintenance, including assisting with new hires and employee updates. Effectively responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and other HR needs.Serves as one of the department's HRIS technical experts, ensuring accurate maintenance and mapping of employee data.Reviews unemployment insurance claims and account balances and responds within deadlines. Assists the HR team with annual benefits enrollment and compensable leaves of absence, including third-party sick pay.Assists in researching and drafting personnel policies, as needed. Identifies ways to improve policies and procedures for the future.Consistently embodies CCU's culture and performance standards and collaborates with the rest of HR/Talent Management to support initiatives that promote our culture. Also assumes responsibility for other projects or duties as required or assigned.Required CompetenciesMaintains an extraordinary degree of confidentiality as it relates to matters of personnel and compensation. Commensurate work experience will also be considered. Experience Requirements3+ years of experience serving as a lead payroll administrator within a corporate environment (100+ EEs) is required. CPP or FPC certification is desired.Strong experience navigating payroll and tax laws is required.Experience working with a corporate HRIS is required, experience with ADP Workforce Now and Time and Attendance is munication Skills RequirementsThe ability to read and comprehend moderate to advanced instructions and correspondence.The ability to write moderate to advanced correspondence within professional etiquette standards.The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.Physical Requirements Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the role.Ability to work within a moderately noisy, fast paced environment.Regular use of computer is required.Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, ability to adjust focus from computer to paper and/or close range to long pensation - The Payroll Specialist pay range is $58,500 to $74,000 per year. Hiring rates are dependent on several factors, including years of related work experience, education, and geographic location. Corning Credit Union also offers an annual bonus plan as part of its comprehensive compensation package.
