Simulation Pilot: ATEC is looking for Pilots to support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Simulation pilot support services contract which include controller and human-in-the-loop (HITL) simulation operations at the FAA's William J. Hughes Technical Center Target Generation Facility (TGF) and/or Cockpit Simulation Facility (CSF). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: During air traffic simulations, candidates will interact with ATC, responding to the ATC clearances issued by the controllers, and controlling the movements of the simulated aircraft. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Required: The qualifications for the project specific services may require the use of type-rated pilots; meaning rated for a specific type of aircraft or meet other specific criteria based on research study requirements or other project needs. Based on the FAA requirements, the type-rated personnel may be required to hold a current and active pilot license and have actively flown in the past month. In contrast, the FAA may also request for pilot operator services with retired and non-current pilot qualifications. The FAA may require the support of services crews that include a pilot-in-command and first officer. Each crew member must be qualified for the seat in the aircraft simulator. For example, two captains can comprise a flight crew, as can a captain and first officer. However, two first officers cannot comprise a crew. The FAA may require a candidate to possess a private pilot license with an instrument rating. The CSF supports projects that require the qualifications of Visual Flight Rules and IFR ratings in general aviation pilots. Such projects include and are not limited to weather degradation and avoidance studies. EDUCATION/YEARS of EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: The candidate possesses or has possessed a Pilot certificate (with rating) in addition to a minimum of 1,000 hours in a specific category: Heavy Aircraft, Airline Transport (ATP), Rotorcraft, or General Aviation (non-commercial, civilian flight) SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US Applicants selected will be subject to a government investigation Has been living in the US for at least the past 3 years WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE: Reporting onsite to the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Pomona, NJ Part-Time, approximately 20 hours per week PAY RANGE: Contingent upon type and length of experience
