Financial Analyst, Capital Markets This position is in the Southern Company Services Treasury organization; located at the Southern Company Headquarters in Atlanta, GA. The Capital Markets team is responsible for the ongoing analysis and management of Southern Company's $60+ billion long-term debt portfolio, and for all long-term debt and equity financings for Southern Company and our seven issuing subsidiaries, including facilitating loans under the Department of Energy's ('DOE's) Loan Program Office ('LPO'). As a frequent issuer, some of Southern Company's landmark transactions include the first Green Bond issued by a US Utility, the first US Utility issuance in Europe, the first corporate to issue an Equality Progress Sustainability Bond, and the largest Utility bond offering of all time. Job Responsibilities (will have a subset of the following): Support DOE Loan Guarantee ('LG') process across multiple subsidiaries Work with DOE LPO to understand requirements and help address questions Collaborate across a wide array of external consultants and internal groups at subsidiaries to gather information for DOE LPO while ensuring established deadlines are being met Support all meetings/interactions with DOE LPO Facilitate updates and submissions of financial models supporting DOE LG process Participate in analysis to support negotiating terms for DOE LG Help ensure compliance with DOE LG agreements Provide backup support to one or more other areas within the Treasury team: Capital Markets Support of debt and equity issuance strategy Maintain relationships with investment banks, representing Southern Company to Wall Street in a professional and productive manner Assist in hedging/risk management strategy Credit Management Collateral monitoring and reporting Assessing counterparty credit worthiness Money Desk Cash flow and liquidity forecasting Cash Operations Set cash and ensure adequate liquidity in applicable bank accounts Position Title: Financial Analyst - Atlanta, GA Job Category: Finance Minimum Education Required: Bachelors City: Atlanta Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities: Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor's degree with a major in Finance, Economics, Business or other related analytical field required 3-7 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, or asset management required Strong analytical and financial modeling skills based on a firm understanding of financial principals Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with key stakeholders: investment bankers, rating agencies, fixed income investors, and all levels of Southern Company management Demonstrated project management skills Excellent customer service skills and ability to maintain positive customer/client relationships Knowledge of and interest in financial markets Additional Preferred Characteristics Ability to multitask and prioritize key responsibilities Attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate and reliable work product Strong connections within Southern Company and/or subsidiaries Familiarity with interest rate derivatives and other hedging instruments Experience in the Power/Utility industry or related industries such as Energy/Oil & Gas Understanding of investment risks faced by equity and fixed income investors Experience working with external stakeholders, including investment banks, investment managers, securities counsel, credit analysts, ratings agencies, and/or investor relations or other corporate communications personnel Experience working with federal government entities and particularly the Department of Energy is a plus State: Georgia
