High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is looking for a talented, motivated, and experienced Applied Physics (AP) Engineering Technician to support research and development activities and transition innovative technologies to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors in Colorado Springs, CO. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and learn with talented engineers, scientists, and technicians on long-standing programs and new programs supporting our customers. Our small group will allow the candidate to experience, contribute, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary nature from conception all the way through to operation. Core Responsibilities: General engineering and maintenance support in a high voltage lab Assisting in all levels of lab testing from testbed construction, diagnostics installation, and data collection Maintain various lab workspaces, including inventory, tool, hardware, and equipment management Support prototyping and testing of other Pulsed Power and Directed Energy projects as needed Basic electrical work and assembly or repair of circuit boards Stock and maintain electronic parts and hardware Assisting in off-site support of field tests and equipment Requirements: High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience/combined education 2 years' experience in electronics/electrical fields Must be detail oriented and willing to learn new specialty skillsets Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality Ability to organize and prioritize workload efficiently Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff Ability to do strenuous work, including bending lifting, twisting, crawling, lifting 50lbs Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical certification Excellent organizational and multitasking skills Basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office and Email) US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance May require moderate to extensive physical effort, involving standing, sitting, bending, twisting, and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 50 pounds Working environment may be indoor or outdoor, can be moderately loud, reasonably clean, lighted and ventilated, physical hazards may exist Preferred Qualifications: Experience with medium to high-voltage equipment, construction and maintenance Multiple years' experience in electronics/electrical fields Experience working with electronic laboratory equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, LCR meters, and other measurement devices) Certifications in electronics or electrical fields Experience with forklifts, scissor lifts, material handling Experience with shop machines, power tools and soldering skills Able to perform all responsibilities listed above in an autonomous fashion with minimal supervision from engineering staff or supervisors Active DoD TS or DoE Q security clearance SARA offers a competitive benefits package to include: Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance; and other supplemental programs A generous PTO program (vacation, sick, holiday) Tuition & certification reimbursement Flexible work schedules Discretionary Employee bonuses 401(k) match/profit sharing Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Pay Range Salary at SARA is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the indivi ual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $18 to $35 (hourly USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of SARA's total compensation package for employees.
