Position: Senior Financial Accountant Category: Exempt Department: Finance Employment Status: Full Time Finger Printing Required: No Driving: No The Senior Financial Accountant reports to the CFO and works closely with the Senior Grants Accountant, Medicaid Biller, and Accounts Payable Specialist to ensure the completeness and accuracy of posting monthly financial activity. The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for coordinating monthly closings and preliminary preparation of financial statements. Oversight of all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibility for maintaining general ledger activity for a related entity Haypath Houses. Monitor cashflow daily reports and project cash needs. Coordinate financial audit activity. Support the CFO in planning and preparation of monthly financial statements, annual Agency budget, and other projects. Performs a leadership role overseeing and coordinating inputs from all accounting staff as needed to ensure timely monthly closings and reporting. Prepare and/or review the following (not an all-exhaustive list): the accuracy and validity of A/P accruals 1099s and 1096 at year-end A/P aging reconciling to the general ledger the accuracy and validity of all Medicaid billing approve bi-weekly payroll Financial Management checks Bank and investment statements Global Cash Card entries Mental Health Association of Nassau County, Inc. Reports to: Chief Financial Officer Supervises: Staff Accountant (shared supervision with Senior Grants Accountant) Bachelors Degree in Accounting, CPA, or MBA preferred Minimum 5 years related experience Solid experience in coordinating audit activities, managing reporting, budget development, account analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments. Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations a plus. Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective communication, and preparation of key data schedules for presentation to leadership and other Agency executives. MS Office, experience with FundEZ accounting software is a plus, advanced EXCEL skills.
