CNC Operator Job Summary: Perform a normal range of turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, facing and similar machining operations on single or multiple spindle automatics or CNC controlled machines to produce a variety of parts composed of materials such as: steel, brass, bronze, aluminum, stainless steel, etc. Setups in the main are exacting but not difficult requiring the changing of collets, feeders, pads, guide bushing to accommodate the various sizes of stock. The CNC machines require downloading the program to the machines. Sequence of operations, cams and tooling are generally prescribed. Select speeds and feeds within prescribed ranges. Grind tools to meet varying conditions and materials. Mount and clamp tools in the machine. Position cams in the machine and adjust for proper timing of operations. Adapt standard cams and tools to special and short run jobs. On the CNC machines the operator must follow the instructions on the cover sheet as to tool grinding requirements and turret location. Tolerances are close on diameters and between shoulders, concentricity and squareness but not difficult to maintain. Detect faulty operation or defective material and report these and/or any unusual conditions to foreman. Inspect the parts at frequent intervals to assure that the print specifications are being maintained. Replace or sharpen worn out tools as necessary. Remove the chips from the machine and dispose in proper location. Required to set-up and operate more than one machine. Maintain the machines as required by cleaning, oiling and greasing, etc. Perform all duties in compliance with all safety and health regulations. Perform all other duties required or directed. Keep the work area clean, orderly and safe manner. THE COMPANY IS WILLING TO TRAIN INTERESTED CANDIDATES.
