POSITION: Appraiser I. DUTIES: Appraiser will collect data to complete unbiased appraisal judgement of all types of property in County. Appraiser will also assist taxpayers as necessary in person, through email and over the phone. Collects, analyzes, and tabulates data for the appraisal of real and personal property. Assists in the classification and valuation of residential, commercial, multi-unit dwellings, mobile/manufactured homes, vacant land, agricultural property, natural resources, industrial, and special purpose property. Will prepare required reports and documentation for protest hearing; perform field visits/audits; advise/assist taxpayers. Will spend about 25% of time doing field audits and checking property characteristics and uses (may sometimes need to visit properties that are under construction). Must attain and amintain active Colorado Ad Valorem apprai REQUIREMENTS: Appraisal license requirements prior to attaining appraisal license o Basic Appraisal Principles (35 credit hours, 5 days, study time 3 hours each night of class) o Basic Appraisal Procedures (35 credit hours, 5 days, study time 3 hours each night of class) o Introduction to Ad Valorem Mass Appraisal (35 credit hours, 5 days, study time 3 hours each night of class) o National USPAP (15 credit hours, 2 days, study time 3 hours) o Pass state Ad Valorem Appraiser Examination (3 weeks of studying night OTHER REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or GED required. PREFERRED SKILLS: Bilingual in English and Spanish. Experience in real estate, appraisal or other related field preferred. WAGE: Starting salary $44,000 - $49,000 dependent on experience and qualifications. SHIFTS: This is a full time, non-exempt year-round position. Primary days and hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. JOB SITE: Leadville, Colorado.
