Job Summary: Teaches subject matter and skills to all students, which will contribute to their development as mature, knowledgeable, and responsible learners. Candidates should be able to demonstrate mastery of subject knowledge, common core state standards, a proven ability to manage a classroom, the desire and ability to work up to the standards of a high-performing team, and an entrepreneurial spirit and approach to teaching. Responsibilities: The successful candidate for this position will: Demonstrate knowledge of the state and school district curriculum and academic standards; including knowledge of the ways in which learning takes place and the appropriate levels of cognitive, social, and emotional development for adolescents; Establish a respectful environment of a diverse population of students, developing a classroom learning environment in which each child has a positive, nurturing relationship with caring adults and other children; Facilitate learning for all students using a variety of instructional methods, to provide students with opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, encourage exploration of ideas, and develop leadership qualities; Reflect on teaching practices, analyzing student learning, development, and growth and apply what is learned to improve instruction; Demonstrate leadership, advocate for the school and it's students and exhibit high ethical standards; Take responsibility for student academic growth using a variety of assessments and ongoing improvement of instructional practice; General Expectations: Manage oneself by being organized, prepared, and punctual Manage resources, meet deadlines, follow through on commitments Act in ways that directly support the mission and vision of FRCS Learn and grow as a professional Use clear verbal and written communication and active listening skills Develop and maintain rapport and effective relationships with children and adults contacted in carrying out duties and responsibilities by using courtesy, diplomacy, collaboration, cooperation and professional conduct Contribute to the goals and success of all teams and team members through collaboration, cooperation, and flexibility in team discussions, activities, and decision-making Maintain high ethical standards, legal responsibility, and confidentiality Anti-bias anti-racist (ABAR) education mindset and practices Qualifications- Required: Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree. Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in the appropriate content area and hold an SEI endorsement Candidates are subject to background checks including, CORI clearance, and fingerprinting Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment. Qualifications- Preferred: Education: Hold a Master's degree Experience working in an urban school district
