Title: Foreman I Garages Delegates and schedules inspections, repair work and campaigns; and assures completion in a timely and cost-effective manner to minimize road calls and defects. Roles and Responsibilities: Delegates and schedules inspections, repair work and campaigns; and assures completion in a timely and cost-effective manner to minimize road calls and defects. Analyzes and solves maintenance and repair problems and assures safe and proper repairs to prevent repeat road calls. Coordinates work with Transportation on all shifts, ensuring that programs, policies, and procedures are consistently implemented, including stock room, safety, and environmental procedures. Interviews, instructs, and disciplines agreement employees, conducts first step hearings, and maintains a working relationship with the union. Counsels, trains, and develops non-agreement maintenance personnel, and supervises Foremen II staff. Responsible for monitoring the timeliness and completeness of the revenue collection system, including proper vaulting procedures and reporting procedures. Monitor update all garage systems including VMIS, Kronos, EPS, BARS, Oracle EBS, AVM and CleverCAD Monitor and arrange for the maintenance of all garages non-revenue equipment. This position provides supervision to agreement and non-agreement staff at the garages. This Position Supervises: Agreement maintenance personnel Foreman II staff Education, Experience and Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, and six (6) years of applied experience heavy fleet maintenance, including two years of supervisory experience. May be required to obtain and maintain a black seal license. Knowledge and Skills: Minimum: Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to comprehend and communicate complicated instructions and directives Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite's Word and Excel software Preferred: Completion of all 3 Modules of Foreman Block Training Understanding of NJ Transit Maintenance Standard Operation Procedures (MSOP) Understanding and be able to use NJ Transit Employee Performance System (EPS) Understanding of and the ability to use Oracle Financial E-Business Suite to search the availability of vehicle parts Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Working Environment Black Seal License Fast paced garage/warehouse work environment Work independently with minimal supervision. Exposure to equipment, machinery/vehicles, chemicals, and other hazardous materials Garages are highly noisy/ loud, contain dirt and dust and open at all times with exposure to extreme temperatures during different seasons. Physical Demands Other Conditions Perform tasks which may include heavy physical labor such as lift and carry heavy items. Ability to stand, sit, walk, kneel and bend throughout the workday. Must be able to pass NJ TRANSIT's pre-employment physical, if applicable NJ TRANSIT Bus Garages are open 24/7 and 365 days, shifts and schedules can vary and may include nights, weekends and holidays as required or assigned.
