NORTHAMPTON - SEE WEBSITE FOR FULL JOB DESCRIPTION - Event Support Coordinator PRIMARY FUNCTION(S): The Class & Event Support Team in Information Technology Services at Smith College is looking for an energetic, organized person familiar with AV technologies, who would be responsible for the oversight and coordination of class and event related IT support. The person in this position ensures that the technology and technical support needed for events is available and present based on support requests, consults with end-users on the technology needs for their events, provides guidance on best practices and instruction on the use of event and classroom technology, helps to maintain AV equipment and computers in classrooms and event spaces. Job Summary Responsible for the oversight and coordination of event related IT support as part of the Classroom and Events Support team. Ensure the technology and technical support needed for events is available and present based on support requests. Consult with end-users on the technology needs for their events, including providing guidance on best practices and instruction on the use of event and classroom technology, as needed. Supervise, train and support student classroom and event consultants. Maintain AV equipment and computers in event spaces and provide direct technology support to major campus events Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree plus at least one year relevant experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Direct experience with audiovisual and sound systems, including microphone setup required. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a service organization, particularly at a college or university; and direct supervisory experience of student workers, is highly desirable. Experience with calendar, spreadsheet and scheduling applications. Skills Familiarity with, including the ability to set up, troubleshoot, and maintain, audio-visual, computing and projection equipment. Excellent customer service and communications skills. Strong organization, attention to detail and accuracy; Ability to work effectively on multiple concurrent projects; good judgment; discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality; demonstrated ability to partner with diverse teams throughout an organization and to work effectively with end users of varying technical knowledge to deliver solutions; strong troubleshooting skills; excellent training skills and strong aptitude to learn new technologies quickly. Additional Information Although this position will typically operate under the College?s regular business hours, there will be a need to work some evenings or weekends to support events. The frequency of these instances can vary from occasional to weekly.
