Description General Summary We have a great opportunity available for an America's Procurement Manager to join the Regional Leadership Team as a key contributor to drive results through the optimization of current supply base for our two primary manufacturing locations. This position will be located in our Blue Ash, Ohio global headquarters. Procurement is critical to support Michelman's global growth strategies through the leadership and execution of major projects that enable robust cost savings and improve security of supply of our key raw materials. You will have the opportunity to contribute/create category strategies for key raw material families and manage supplier relationships globally. This will be enabled by engaging with colleagues from around the world, leveraging regional specific supply opportunities and expanding our supply network worldwide. Through collaboration, you will connect cross-functional teams with raw material suppliers to create sustainable advantage for Michelman. Primary Responsibilities Manage and lead the day-to-day of procurement responsibilities by supporting operations, finance and technology. This includes raw materials, capital and Indirect spends Maintain system integrity in the ERP system, ensure procurement policy, guidelines and any associated documents are in place and updated when required. Create and implement regional procurement strategies that are innovative, cost-effective, sustainable, and incorporate the growing complexities and challenges within industry aligning to global procurement strategies. Lead transformational activities to build procurement organizational capabilities and improve procurement efficiency Implement cross-functional cost savings; support new product development; supply assurance and quality improvements by sourcing, selecting, and partnering with suppliers through robust category strategies Understand market situation, business trends and product availability to pay the best price for company goods and services without sacrificing quality or delivery times Develops and implements strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing goods or services and maintaining stock levels Collaborating with our technology to understand our company needs as well as work with our existing/new suppliers to determine company strategic alignment. Sourcing and engaging reliable suppliers and vendors. Build and nurtures relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best prices for company and identify long term strategic suppliers. Perform all procurement and contracting activities including pre-qualification, tender management, negotiation, and preparation of contracts. Performing risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements Analysis of supply markets to identify potential suppliers and keep abreast of changing industry trends Periodic review and audit system integrity of supplier's info in the system, JDE such as supplier lead-time, purchasing pricing and supplier basic data like safety stock, MOQ and order multiple. Maintain and update documentation such as ISO procedure, supplier audit report, when necessary. Review repeated/critical supplier corrective action and develop annual supplier audit plan where applicable. Periodical review and monitor the vendor performance i.e. quality and delivery performance, supplier approved record and supplier qualification. Critical Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrix-based environment with multiple priorities Must have the ability to make decisions even in critical situations and under time pressure Proven ability to think independently and handle projects through to completion Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong external focus with a growth mindset Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment High levels of self-motivation, initiative, and interpersonal skills Experienced in : Negotiation and Contract development Supplier Analysis Industry Analysis/Competitive Analysis Supplier Relationship Management Category Strategy Development Commodity Management Passion, self-motivation, take initiative, and good interpersonal skill Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills Ability to interface with suppliers and promote best interests of Michelman Ability to interact with all levels of the organization Dynamic cross-functional interaction and highly effective project management, leadership skills, change management Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers Possess strong business acumen Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or Business related discipline 7 or more years' experience in sourcing raw materials for the Chemical industry with notable progression of responsibilities Proven track record of launching new growth programs and delivering results Other Experience in chemical manufacturing or chemical sourcing preferred Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement Experience Willingness to travel domestically up to 25% of the time with the potential of 1 international trip per year Work Hours Michelman's standard work hours for this role are Monday - Friday from 8 am - 5 pm EST.
