Must be in the USA The Head Custodian provides custodial services at the assigned site; ensuring an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors; oversees the preparation of facilities for classroom activities and campus events; oversees and supports assigned custodians in the performance of their assignments; and ensures that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner. Work will require independent judgment and is performed under the supervision of the building's Principal, and Network supervisor for his/her shift. Essential Job Functions Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment while adhering to OSHA and maximum safety procedures. Consults with administrative personnel and Network for planning, prioritizing, and scheduling custodial activities and achieving site maintenance objectives. Orders a variety of items (e.g. supplies, packages, furniture, etc.) to distribute materials to the appropriate parties. Distributes custodial supplies and equipment to disseminate materials to custodial staff and/or storage locations. Inspects facilities to ensure that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, identifying necessary repairs to facilities and/or equipment, etc. Maintains necessary supplies and equipment to ensure the availability of custodial items required to properly maintain facilities. Maintains the exterior of the sites, including snow/ice removal, trash removals as needed Monitors students and staff in and around work areas (e.g. halls, multipurpose rooms, lunch rooms, restrooms, grounds, etc.) to prevent injuries and ensure site safety. Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions. Performs maintenance building repairs (e.g. electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.) to maintain a safe and attractive building. Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies (e.g. paper towels, soap, etc.) to ensure adequate quantities for daily use. Oversees and schedules a maintenance team to ensure the best service is provided. Prepares written materials (e.g. supply orders, safety inspections, work orders, inventory, overtime sheets, etc.) to document activities and/or relating activities to administration for action. Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, vandalism, alarms, snow removal, etc.) to take appropriate action or notify appropriate personnel for resolution. Responds to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and/or visitors to provide information, take appropriate action, and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution. Maintains facilities and grounds (e.g. doors, gates, alarms, lights, etc.) to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and/or potential liability. Trains and assigns personnel (e.g. new custodians, etc.) to develop professional trade and safety awareness skills. Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Schedules and reports service visits as needed to ensure the sound operation of the schools Communicates the operation schedule of the school with Network administrators to ensure fiscal soundness. Holds confidentiality regarding sensitive matters shared by leadership and team members Excellent Time and Attendance required Qualifications Valid Certificate of Fitness S12, S13 & S95 Required Very good physical health and strength Valid Driver's License issued by the state of residence and in good standing Ability to plan and schedule daily work matters Ability to plan and schedule projects and goals Excellent Time and Attendance Bilingual-Spanish preferred Nurturing spirit and welcoming personality NYS Department of Education Fingerprint Clearance Working hours depend on the specific position, which is full-time. Certain days of the year may require the Head Custodian to change or modify their hours.
