How You Will Contribute The Coordinator of Accessible Programs is a member of the Community Engagement and Access (CEA) team and supervises teaching artists and program volunteers. This role sits in the Public and Civic Engagement department within the division of Learning & Engagement. The PMA's Accessible Programs builds pathways for visitors, with a wide range of disabilities, to engage with the richness and complexity of art. Through regular programs like Creative Connections: Workshops for People with Parkinson's and their care partners, Veterans Empowered Through Art (V.E.T. Art,) and Sensory Friendly Mornings, we work to build community and create space for multi-modal art-centered conversations and experiences. Specifically, you will: Program Management Manage the development, coordination, and implementation of art-based accessible in-person and virtual programs on and off-site for diverse audiences with physical, sensory, developmental, and cognitive disabilities. Hire and supervise teaching artists and work collaboratively to develop innovative opportunities for intergenerational participants to learn about and create art in the museum and neighboring communities. Coordinate specialized guided tours to meet the needs of people with varied needs and learning styles. Engagement Develop plans for growing, diversifying, and assessing programs and audiences. Evaluate programs based on cohort-based feedback and from access and disability communities, including the distribution of accessible surveys and focus groups. Fostering strong relationships and collaborative partnerships with local communities and contributing to audience outreach initiatives which meet the needs of diverse disability communities. Advocacy Coordinate efforts to advance access initiatives across the museum in collaboration with Learning & Engagement staff and other departments including Visitor Experience, Curatorial, Digital Content and Development, Exhibition Design, Graphic Design, Advancement, and the Office of People and Culture. Contribute to broad institutional efforts to position the museum as a welcoming, relevant, and accessible resource for D/deaf and disabled people who have traditionally experienced barriers to participation in cultural institutions. Serve as a member of the Accessibility working group. Advise on producing accessible materials and accommodations for exhibitions and digital media projects. Facilitate staff trainings on accessibility and disability justice. Administration Set program outcome goals, track and report progress, program stats, and highlights. Partner with the Advancement team to raise funds through grants, foundations, and individual donors; track grant-related spending and provide information for funder reports. Other Manage Captioning for live and virtual programs, upon request. Assist as needed in other areas of the Learning & Engagement division which may include special events on weekends and evenings. Perform other duties as assigned. Your background and experience include: A commitment to working for disability, racial, gender, economic and environmental justice Knowledge of best practices and effective strategies for Accessibility initiatives and programming At least three years of demonstrated experience in community-based or arts programming, museum education and gallery teaching as well as knowledge of disability law and regulations, disability justice, museum access programming and contemporary artistic practices. Experience working with multigenerational audiences and within and among communities, especially disability communities, in personal and/or professional settings. Capacity to inspire engagement, build trust, and communicate across differences Outstanding skills in deep listening and interpersonal communication Experience and comfort facilitating conversations and workshops Ability to think strategically, analyze complex problems, and proactively to develop creative solutions Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, Asana, Adobe, Mailchimp and other software platforms used for Access communication resources. Knowledge of Philadelphia's neighborhoods, cultural landscape and community/cultural stewards and leaders Experience building and sustaining long-term relationships between organizations Strong research and organizational skills, as well as ability to multitask Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a collaborative team Experience in research, outreach, accessibility, and/or community arts education. Working knowledge of the ADA and Section 504 compliance; experience in best practices of universal design. Position and Compensation Details The hourly rate for this position is $25.80. This position is Part-Time, Non-Exempt, and 21 hours per week. This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit. This position reports to the Berton and Sallie Korman Associate Curator of Education, Community Engagement and Access. Physical requirements: Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
