Job Summary: In this role, you will provide paralegal/legal assistance to the Associate General Counsel personnel. The IP Paralegal plays a crucial role in supporting the lawyers and Legal Department performing various tasks related to legal matters. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist IP attorney(s) with the preparation and prosecution of patent, trademark and copyright applications and related documents (e.g., declarations, powers of attorney and assignments). Perform intake of new invention disclosures and maintain docket to remind attorneys regarding upcoming deadlines associated with patent and trademark prosecution. Organize and maintain legal documents, such as contracts, pleadings, deposition transcripts, and other case-related materials. Paralegals may also draft and revise legal documents under attorney supervision. Interact with clients to obtain information and update them on the progress of their matters. Prepare and file legal documents. This may include electronic filing in some jurisdictions. Ensure that legal work complies with applicable laws and regulations and keep updated on changes in legal requirements that may impact cases. Utilize legal software and technology for research, document management, and case management. Assist attorney(s) with the preparation and review of internal presentations, memoranda, as well as departmental/committee meeting materials. Provide general administrative support to attorneys and legal teams outside of the IP department, such as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE), and Human Resources Basic Qualifications: A minimum of three years of paralegal, secretarial or administrative experience is required, preferably within the field of Intellectual Property Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and AppColl or other docketing software Must be detail-oriented, organized and have a strong ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines/workload. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) or equivalent from NALA or NFPA Extensive knowledge of U.S. patent and trademark laws, rules and procedure, labor law, property law, and/or ESG best practices Advanced Microsoft Office skills Knowledge/familiarity of Paris Convention, the Madrid Protocol, Hague and PCT requirements Able to be aware of all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description Adhere to legal ethics and professional standards, including maintaining client confidentiality and avoiding conflicts of interest Travel Requirements: None; No travel required Physical and Mental Requirements: Physical Requirements - Sedentary -exerting up to 10lbs/4kgsof force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
