Postdoctoral Research Associate Posting Details Position Information Position Title Postdoctoral Research Associate Department Astrophysics - 003 Position Summary The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.The Museum's Astrophysics department is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate. The Research Associate conducts novel astrophysical research both independently and under the guidance of their manager. They publish their results in referred journals and disseminated them to the scientific research community at conferences. Additionally, they provide service to the scientific community as appropriate through reviews of papers and grants, and participate in education and public outreach on a time-available basis.This position is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation to the manager.Job duties include:Perform original research. Publish and disseminate results.Engage in service to the scientific community and the general public as needed and possible.The expected salary for the Postdoctoral Research Associate is $70,000/annual. The AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience. Required Qualifications Defended PhD in astrophysics or a related field, with graduation by the start of employment.Astrophysical research with experience publishing original scientific results.Experience with use of the Torch software framework to model globular cluster formation. Preferred Qualifications Experience and interest in fields of research appropriate to the funded grant.
