Grants Financial Manager Posting Details Position Information Position Title Grants Financial Manager Department Grants & Fellowships - 023 Position Summary The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.The Grants & Fellowships department is seeking a full-time Grants Financial Manager. The Grants Financial Manager leads research administration from proposal development to post-award administration and compliance in the Office of Grants. They are the primary financial and budget point of contact and support for government-funded Principal Investigators (PIs) in the Museum's Sciences Divisions. The Manager collaborates with PIs, administrators and staff from other Museum departments to support the operation of a research project.Job duties include:Budget development and monitoring of budget spending, ensuring PI's stay on budget in proposal budgeted categories.Develop budgets and budget narratives sufficient to support project or program activities consistent with applicable requirements.Assist PI's in drafting, writing and editing proposal budgets and related documents.Review proposals to ensure commitments (fiscal, technical and accountability) are in accordance with Museum and sponsor policies, procedures and regulations.Collaborate with Finance to:Ensure awards are set up correctly.Ensure cost share requirements are fulfilled.Review and approve expenditures, prepare forecasts and make recommendations on staffing and spending changes to keep projects on track.Advise on purchasing and travel policies.Assist in managing PI effort commitments and advise on quarterly effort certifications.Assist PI's with expense projections and participate in the award closeout process.Assist in compiling information for final reports and terpret and apply principles, rules, regulations, policies, precedents or other guidelines specific to research projects and sponsors to resolve issues, answer questions and provide information and advice.Provide consultation and management to ensure that PI's obtain required compliance approvals (e.g., IRB, FCOI, RCR, foreign engagement or influence reviews).Assist in monitoring project personnel disclosures related to federal disclosure requirements on conflicts of interest or commitment and foreign government influence.Collaborate with Finance and other Supported Programs Administration (SPA) offices to train and serve as a resource for project personnel and administrators, providing guidance on Museum and federal grant policies and procedures.The expected salary range for the Grants Financial Manager is $75,000/annual - $85,000/annual. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit administration or another related field.5 years of experience with non-profit financial practices and systems with concentration in federal funders including, but not limited to: NSF, NASA, the Department of Education and IMLS. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in public administration.Experience in writing budget justifications, including, but not limited to: NSF, NASA, the Department of Education and IMLS. Physical Demands Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.Must be able to move about the Museum campus.
