Top Secret/SCI Location: Middletown, RI 02842 US (Primary) % Travel 50 - 60% Job Description Information Systems Security OfficerWe are seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to join our team and oversee the security of our organization's information systems throughout the acquisition and engineering lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both cybersecurity and systems engineering, with the ability to integrate security requirements into complex technical programs. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement information security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with relevant regulations and industry best practices Collaborate with systems engineers and program managers to incorporate security controls and risk mitigation strategies into system designs and architectures Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans of information systems and networks Oversee security aspects of the systems development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through testing and deployment Evaluate and approve development efforts to ensure baseline security safeguards are appropriately installed Provide security expertise during the acquisition process, including developing security requirements for RFPs and evaluating vendor proposals Manage the implementation and testing of security controls for new and modified systems Develop and maintain system security plans, risk assessments, and other security documentation Investigate and respond to security incidents, coordinating with relevant stakeholders Stay current on emerging threats and security technologies relevant to our systems and programs AMERICAN SYSTEMS is one of the top 100 employee owned companies in the United States. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; Master's degree preferred 3+ years of experience in information security Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management frameworks, and relevant standards (e.g. NIST, ISO 27001, DODI 8510.01) Experience with systems engineering methodologies and the systems development lifecycle Familiarity with government and defense acquisition processes CISSP, CISM, or equivalent information security certification Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders U.S. citizenship and active TOP SECRET GENSER clearance Founded in 1975, AMERICAN SYSTEMS is one of the largest employee-owned companies in the United States. The salary range for this position is $85,000-$120,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
