Summary Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking a Materials Planner for our North Kingstown, RI location. Description: The Materials Planner will assist with managing inventories and ensuring material resources are consistent with production schedules. Assists with determining material specifications, creating and maintaining inventory schedules, coordinating with internal departments, and managing external stakeholder relationships. Assists with a wide variety of tasks supporting the planning and production of finished or semi-finished goods while coordinating inventory and shop floor control activities. Job Responsibilities Assists with analyzing MRP data, handling the shop floor work orders, and outside process suppliers to support the manufacturing plan Aids with scheduling, expediting and de-expediting orders keeping relevant individuals and departments advised with respect to delays and lead-times on critical materials or products Supports the shop floor work order process ensuring all materials are issued properly to minimize variances Teams with cross functional departments to evaluate new processes, materials and continuous improvement projects Assists with identifying shortages to MPS or shop floor orders, advises internal team, and communicates with suppliers concerning critical components May be assigned as Shop Floor representative in production, shortage, and shipments meetings Participate in the review and implementation of independent demand forecasts Works closely with COS, Shop Floor, Planner/Buyers and Suppliers to ensure parts are delivered in a timely manner to support customer or inter-company parts requirements Works with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and suppliers to resolve quality issues May participate on the Material Review Board (MRB) and initiates shop floor and supplier corrective actions where appropriate; monitor closely to ensure all ARs are closed in timely manner Assists with cost reduction initiatives in accordance with departmental and organizational goals Assists with the coordination and implementation of engineering changes relating to product responsibility Incorporates clean work practices in daily working routines Understands and applies Supply Chain Management concepts Maintains thorough knowledge of company's products and understanding of structure Remains current with industry trends and best practices Qualifications Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience 0 - 1 year of related work experience, i.e., materials management, shop floor control, inventory control, procurement or supply chain management APICS continuous education desirable CPIM certification desirable Experience in operational and manufacturing process desirable Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills Excellent planning and time management skills Excellent problem-solving and reasoning skills Creative, analytical, self-motivated, and driven Proficient in MS Office Suite Knowledge of ERP systems, i.e., ERP-LX, BPCS, SAP, ORACLE, etc. Works under close direction as well as in a team environment Physical Demands Employee must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable employee with disabilities to perform essential job functions, absent undue hardship.
