Technician Senior (Signals) Print ( Apply  Technician Senior (Signals) Salary $24.13 - $30.00 Hourly Location Fort Myers, FL Job Type Full-Time Regular Job Number 07254PD Department D O T Traffic Opening Date 08/27/2024 Closing Date 9/24/2024 11:59 PM Eastern Description Benefits Questions Description This is highly responsible technical work that requires advanced knowledge and skills in implementing communications theory and principles to a highly complex transportation system. Job functions include analyzing, configuring, and troubleshooting a complex traffic signal system (Centracs), field repairs, and maintenance of traffic signal controller assemblies, various detection devices, assisting with Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices, and other traffic signal control-related equipment. Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for ensuring field and in-house traffic signal equipment and systems are properly functioning per MUTCD, IMSA, FDOT, and County standards. Work is performed independently in accordance with established practices and assignments may include reading, sketches, blueprints, plans or schematics to document traffic signal design and relay information to subordinates and superiors. Works closely with traffic engineering staff on traffic signal configuration, development, and troubleshooting traffic signal system on the ITS network. Training of lower level technicians on the traffic signal equipment such as but not limited to, traffic controller cabinet assembly, various detection equipment, etc. Drives and operates aerial bucket truck, and assists lower level technicians in maintenance, and repairs of signalized intersections. May supervise lower level technicians on projects and trouble shooting. Understanding and working with knowledge sharing practices and training. Education, Experience, Licensing Minimum Qualifications Requires any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from High School and four years of journeyman-level work experience in the maintenance of traffic signals, streetlights, intelligent transportation systems, or related fields. This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as provided in DOT regulation 49CFR-parts 40 and /or 382. Licenses Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License permit and an acceptable driving record at the time of offer with the ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of hire date or employment will end. Possession of an International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Technician Level III certification OR have the ability to obtain certification within twelve (12) months of employment. Supplemental Information Advanced level of certification or college coursework specific to the job is preferred. Proficiency in computer programs such as Cartegraph (OMS) work order system, Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word. Experience in maintaining and repairing video, microwave, loop detection, and related equipment. Skilled in the installation and maintenance of traffic signal controller cabinet assemblies and auxiliary equipment. Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) is preferred.
