PART-TIME or FULL-TIME SEASONAL POSITIONS AVAILABLE Being a part of the Ski & Ride School team is the greatest way to build an intimate relationship with the mountain and its culture. Yes, you can teach skiing and snowboarding at Jay Peak. And yes, you know you want to. Instructors are energetic, passionate, welcoming and hardworking people who love skiing, the mountain and showing people a fantastic time on snow. Instructors come from all levels of experience and ability. The most important part of being an instructor is your passion and work ethic - but, your skiing and teaching ability and education skills are important too.We're willing to work with all schedules as long as it fits within our needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned) Offers high-quality, professional instruction and experiences to the resort's guests. Attends both in-house and PSIA training to continually improve upon and fine tune to the guest experience. Is a supportive and positive member of the entire Ski & Ride School team and resort staff. Demonstrates that they are a part of a team by working outside of teaching and/or the department-specific tasks wherever help is needed. Specifically, instructors are expected to help Ski Patrol with sweeping the mountain at end of day. Maintains good, safe physical condition of both yourself and your equipment. Attends all line-ups on days scheduled to work. Receives assigned guests at level (beginner to advanced) to be instructed. Instructs guests in correct use of ski lifts, both surface and above ground. Entertains guests as part of the planned activities and socializing with adults and kids. Shows an understanding of the director's three guidelines for customer service: Know where they're coming fro, make a plan for their success and love them. Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PSIA Certification is preferred. OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are an essential part of this position. Must be able to interact cooperatively with all other departments. As a snowboard instructor (especially full-timers) it is beneficial for you and the school if you are willing to learn to teach skiing as well. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS You must have your own ski/ride equipment including helmet (which we can help with) and complete on-snow and off-snow training at the start of the season. Instructors must be 18 years of age or older, possess a passionate, positive attitude; support the mission of the resort and follow the company's policies and procedures. WHY WORK AT JAY PEAK?
