SUMMARY Leads financial reporting activities in support of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), debtholder and various state financial reports using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory accounting principles. Performs research on various accounting and reporting topics and coordinates financial reporting and other activities for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. RESPONSIBILITIES Leads staff in the preparation of SEC (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc.), debtholder and FERC reports to ensure that external filings are prepared timely, accurately and in accordance with requirements. Supports financial reporting activity to the majority owner (Fortis Inc.) in support of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements. Leads the preparation of monthly/quarterly cash flow statements. Supports financial reporting activity for debt issuances and other transactions. Performs detailed review of financial reporting prepared by staff members of the External Reporting team. Supports annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors to help complete audit and reviews; resolves accounting and reporting issues. Maintains processes relating to reporting under XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language). Performs research for various accounting and reporting matters. Drives efficient business processes using technology solutions and data gathering. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance orrelevant, equivalent educationor relevant, equivalent experience and/or education. Minimum of (7) seven years of experience in Accounting with increasing level of responsibility. Minimum of (3) three years of recent SEC/public accounting experience required. Certified Public Accountant required. Experience with Sarbanes Oxley compliance preferred. Utility accounting experience preferred. Experience with Wdesk reporting software preferred. Familiarity with GAAP and SEC authoritative literature. Ability to research and analyze various types of data. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment, which may require longer hours. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Possesses sound analytical problem-solving skills to resolve complex accounting and other issues. Strong ability to utilize technology to complete daily assignments. Strong knowledge of financial systems and the Microsoft Office suite. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
