Marketing and Communications Sr Manager - 240223 : KNW-C50 Description Job Summary The overall purpose of this position is to develop marketing strategies and transform them into actionable, tactical programs while maintaining and growing the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) brand position. The incumbent in this position is primarily responsible for the development, implementation, and performance assessment of strategic marketing communications activities for ComSoc's conferences, industry outreach initiatives (corporate program, 5G, Future Networks, IoT), and advertising sponsorship programs. This person will also assist and advise on other marketing programs executed by other members of the marketing team. The role will interact with volunteers, internal teams, and vendors, therefore experience working and collaborating with multiple stakeholders is extremely important. The role reports to the Director of Membership and Marketing and has no direct reports. Specific duties include but not limited to: Develop annual marketing strategies and manage the day-to-day tactical efforts for 2 flagship conferences, 8 core conferences, and the remaining 30 conference portfolio. The person in this role will be charged with developing go-to-market plans to generate leads and increase paper submissions and registrations in partnership with the conference organizing committees Develop and execute marketing strategies that support ComSoc's industry outreach initiatives including the Corporate Program, 5G, IoT, and Future Networks. Assist with identifying target markets, positioning strategies, content strategies, and campaign messaging to drive industry attendance to live events and engagement with each initiative Work closely with global advertising partner to maximize sponsorship revenue and identify co-marketing opportunities with other initiatives across the organization End-to-end campaign management - creating and managing promotional schedules, tracking deliverables from internal/external teams, coordinating review of marketing materials, etc. Lead the development of creative and innovative communications positioning strategy and campaign themes for the aforementioned programs including but not limited to: email marketing; web content; digital marketing; content marketing; webinars/webcasts; trade shows, summits, and special events; print advertising; and social media marketing Partner with the Digital Marketing and Operations Manager on the development and execution of training program revenue generation, lead development, and Sister Society partnership marketing Evaluate marketing campaigns to determine their success; present performance recaps to program stakeholders and generate actionable insights to inform future initiatives Partner with the internal marketing team on brand positioning, support of other marketing programs executed by other team members and additional program development Work collaboratively with internal team on the creation and production of sales and marketing materials and analyze campaign success Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience marketing, advertising, or a related discipline req Work Experience 7-10 years related experience or a combination of related training and experience (large association experience a plus) Req Skills and Requirements Deep understanding and hands-on in all facets of marketing (i.e., channel, positioning, pricing, and promotion strategies) Excellent marketing writing and editing skills; ability to translate strategy into marketing concepts and copy; will be required to write marketing copy so an understanding of grammatical standards is important Cross-functional experience with an emphasis on conference/event marketing, product marketing, content marketing, digital marketing, and trade show/events marketing Excellent project management skills -- ability to follow timelines, coordinate deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently Strong presentation skills -- ability to explain detailed marketing plans to IEEE volunteers and other key stakeholders and address questions as needed Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges Ability to work and think independently but can easily collaborate with others Strong working knowledge of email marketing software (Marketo or similar), social media scheduling software (Hootsuite or similar) Strong working knowledge of digital marketing strategies and tactical execution Strong skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Docs Ability to travel 10%-20% For information on work demands and conditions required for this position, please consult the reference document, 'Physical, Mental, and Work Environment Standards for IEEE Positions.'
