This is a first shift Exempt, full-time position. JOB SUMMARY The Light Assembly Supervisor is responsible for providing direct supervision to department staff, while overseeing daily training and project objectives, as instructed by the Operations Manager. Provide solid leadership within the department to achieve the company, plant, and department goals, through various evaluation and improvement strategies. Aim at improving overall quantity and profitability. Manage and exercise technical expertise, including training, assessing performance, and making process improvements. Assumes all departmental duties when needed. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates ownership and practical knowledge of all applicable daily responsibilities to make sound decisions and execute quality oversight Conducts quality inspections, performs inventory or cycle counts of raw material Works to prevent process or product failures. Focuses on continuous improvement of product quality through attention to process details and specifications with organized activities, including Operations and Quality Assurance Assess component quality to determine pass/fail or whether materials might need additional scrutiny. Maintains reference standards for components. Inspect the quality of work done by subordinates. Monitor and report on the department's overall performance Research methods to improve operations and reduce costs Responsible for assisting with performance plans, work schedules, vacations, assignments and special projects, as well as training and personnel development for direct reports Training and onboarding new hires to make sure they understand their roles. Set goals and targets for the team. Map out plans and schedules for assignments. Identify workers' strengths and weaknesses and assign tasks to all workers in areas of their strengths. Communicate workers' concerns or suggestions to your superior. Schedule, prep, or stage production lines to maximize productivity. Assist with recruiting and laying off staff. In the absence of key personnel, the Supervisor is responsible for completing or delegating the completion of all required tasks and responsibilities of the missing person. QUALIFICATIONS Willing and able to communicate easily with direct and temporary personnel to share pertinent information regarding quality and process issues Able to maintain a respectful, calm, and patient demeanor in the face of delivering and receiving negative quality and process information Advanced leadership and team management skills with the ability to model positive behaviors and attitudes while demonstrating integrity and ethics. Must be quality oriented with sound judgement for interpreting results and determining acceptability relative to specifications and/or standards. Must be able to work independently while also exercising good judgement to know when to ask questions and/or seek help.
