This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Job Summary/Basic Function: The Associate Director of Facilities and Operations is responsible for the overall, day-to-day operations of the Student Recreation Center which includes facility maintenance and custodial services, capital projects, space planning, and risk management. Level Scope: Manages a large team typically consisting of both experienced professionals and subordinate Managers. Focuses on tactical and operational plans with short to mid term focus; significant responsibility to achieve broadly stated goals through subordinate Managers. Determines objectives, directs programs, develops strategies and policies, manages human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with a high degree of autonomy. Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead a project or program teams in one dept/job family. Proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets. Determines campus strategies for a program with campus wide impact. Essential Functions: 60% of the Time the Associate Director of Facilities and Operations Must: Staff Supervision Provide leadership, direction, and supervision for the areas of Facility Operations, Membership Services, Facility Maintenance and Custodial Operations, Aquatics, and Risk Management. Directly responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, and day-to-day supervision of professional and classified staff including the Assistant Director, Facilities and Aquatics; Coordinator, Member Services; and three Night Custodians. Indirectly oversee Coordinator, Aquatics & Safety and approximately 80 student employees. Ensure effective recruitment, onboarding, and training plans are implemented for all professional, classified, and student staff under the supervision of the Associate Director of Facilities and Operations. Approve bi-weekly payroll and out-of-office leave requests for all direct reports. Facility Maintenance & Custodial Services Directly responsible for the regular and preventative maintenance of Campus Recreation facilities. Collaborate directly with various trades within Boise State's central Facilities, Operations, and Maintenance [FOM] department as well as external contractors and subcontractors to maintain and repair critical building assets and infrastructure. Submit and close-out work orders, evaluate repairs for quality and completeness, and process payment for completed services. Establish and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance plan for building systems, facility infrastructure, and equipment. Regularly monitor building systems and identify performance deficiencies in the building automation system. Coordinate system repairs and replacements with central Facilities or third-party contractors. Directly responsible for a coordinated and unified system of custodial services for all Campus Recreation facilities. Regularly assess and evaluate the effectiveness of current custodial practices including; scope and frequency of services, equipment and chemical products, quality control measures, etc. in order to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. Manage the inventory and procurement of custodial equipment, chemicals, paper products, and supplies to ensure that custodial staff have the necessary materials to perform their uties effectively. Develop and evaluate policies and procedures to ensure facility operations are in compliance with established departmental, university, and state guidelines. Risk Management Serve as the Chair of Campus Recreation's Risk Management Workgroup. Coordinate, review, and assess all Campus Recreation risk management plans, emergency response, and administration. Create and revise Campus Recreation's Risk Management Plan and supporting documentation including area EAP's, crisis communication, blood borne pathogen training, and employee skill audits. Maintain and revise operations and risk management policy manuals for all facility areas on a yearly basis. Coordinate and conduct building evacuation and other emergency drills for Campus Recreation facilities. Coordinate directly with Environmental Health and Safety [EHS] to schedule and coordinate Campus Recreation's annual safety assessment. Fiscal Management Budget, track, and reconcile all expenses and revenue related to the Facilities Operations area on a monthly basis. Assist in the annual budgeting process for Campus Recreation. This includes developing, forecasting, and reporting on revenues and expenses related to the Facilities Operations area.
