JOB TITLE: AREA SUPERINTENDENT LOCATION: MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA JOB DESCRIPTION The Area Superintendent (AS) will be responsible for the management and oversight of a designated area within the project. This role involves the effective coordination and execution of all field management activities, ensuring that project goals related to schedule, budget, safety, quality, and personnel development are met. The AS will lead a team of field engineers and collaborate with craft supervision and trade partners to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. Key duties include coordinating field activities, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and managing project documentation and reporting. RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise, mentor, and provide leadership to the workforce in the designated project area, fostering an environment of collaboration and accountability. Plan, coordinate, and oversee field construction activities to ensure seamless execution, working closely with trade partners to maintain productivity and quality. Lead weekly schedule and management meetings with trade partners to ensure alignment and resolve any project challenges. Enforce site-specific safety plans and best safety practices, ensuring compliance across all work areas. Collaborate with foremen to develop and review Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and Safety Task Analyses (STAs) for all self-performed work, as well as reviewing those of trade partners. Contribute to project scheduling efforts, managing the four-week look-ahead schedule for the assigned area to ensure timely project completion. Maintain accurate cost and production records, contributing to the development of site utilization and material handling plans within the assigned area. Collaborate with project and office engineers to ensure timely material procurement and handling, verifying that materials received meet quantity and quality standards, and that appropriate documentation is submitted to the jobsite administrator. Oversee all quality control efforts within the assigned project area, ensuring adherence to both company and trade partner standards to deliver a high-quality product. Manage the punch list process to ensure timely project closeout and owner acceptance. Build and maintain strong relationships with the project owner, architects, engineers, and trade partners, ensuring that high standards of customer service and satisfaction are upheld. Actively participate in project coordination meetings, contributing to pre-planning and scheduling activities to ensure the smooth integration of coordination efforts. Assist BIM and VDC engineers in driving timely issue resolution to keep the submittal process on schedule. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management. A minimum of 5-6 years of experience on large commercial construction projects. Valid Driver's License. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Proficiency in relevant computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite (with a focus on Excel), Prolog, Primavera, and the AutoDesk Suite. Compensation for this position is salary ($90,000-110,000) based on experience, background, and skills.
