SUMMARY This employee is part of the Analytical Division of the County Detective Bureau. The employee compiles, reviews and analyzes all types of information relating to criminal activity for dissemination to law enforcement personnel. He/she uses three types of crime analysis: tactical, strategic and administrative. This employee also studies the relationships between criminals, including organized crime activity. He/she works with law enforcement personnel and public sources to gather and interpret raw data, transcribe/review taped recordings, establish criminal profiles, chart crime patterns and determine the location and extent of criminal activity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Possess training, knowledge, and experience in the fields and disciplines of intelligence and analysis. Practice and operate through the Intelligence Cycle, or a variant of the fundamental principles and phases therein. Shall be able to work through the process both independently and as a collaborative unit. Technologically skilled with regards intelligence systems, resources, and capabilities to analyze complex data; must acquire the ability to adopt, embrace, and employ newly developed technologies in support of the Intelligence Unit's mission. Possess technical knowledge of electronic surveillance techniques including, but not limited to, the interception of wire, electronic, and oral interceptions, pen register and trap and trace devices, mobile communication tracking information, telecommunication identification interception device; and the ability to synthesize and analyze the data produced by each technique. Utilize multiple specialized analytical and intelligence systems; Local, State, and Federal databases; as well as open-source outlets and social media platforms. Perform telephone record analysis of call detail records and cell tower information through reporting, mapping, and link analysis to determine interrelationships and transactions involving criminal activity. Prepare oral, written and graphical presentations for operational output. Collect digital intelligence from mobile device forensics and upload forensic extractions into telecommunications databases for analysis and investigative overlap. Develop and maintain inter-agency communication with law enforcement and intelligence personnel and exchange information of mutual interest. Provide judgements and make recommendations to supervisory staff in order to advise decision-makers with approaches to mitigate or prevent threats and criminal activities. Develop threat assessments and time series analyses regarding crime patterns; Identify criminal groups, key individuals involved in organized criminal activity, their methods of operation, and the extent of the individual's criminal influence on its organized criminal group. Responsible for quality control of data entered into various intelligence databases in order to maintain the integrity of intelligence data received and/or disseminated; this includes ensuring all intelligence data is properly classified, stored, and handled in accordance with Local, State, and Federal guidelines.
